I think the point is the algorithm doesn’t serve those videos to enough people because his channel is a truck channel now, so the truck videos make money and the others don’t, so it makes sense as someone trying to make a living out of this to publish them separately to please the algorithm. The other videos need to make money too or it’s not worth the hassle. That’s me reading between the lines. I’m all for it make all the channels you want I’ll subscribe, this guy is gold with the amount of detail and education each video brings I’m definitely following along.

By separating the content J.C. is hoping to get more views on the variety, make the algorithm work for this content and push it to more potential viewers. Like Ragy says above, content creation has moved from a hobby to the core business so all content has to make a worthwhile return or its just a waste of time.

As for merch, there's a third method, which is sort of a hybrid. Partial self-fulfilment. It requires more labor on your end than carrying an inventory, but you can pivot a lot easier and don't get stuck with an unpopular size of something. It fits right in the middle between POD and bulk order..

I like the variety. I think a #2 venue is a good idea. Retired trucker almost 30 years . Do what your heart makes you Happy. Been following about a year now. (Dealing with RVs will make a sane person go out of his mind.) You think your utility trailer was wonky? I have hardly ever seen any RV that was 100% square . Been around RVs since 1972. Delivered many of them new from Indiana factories in the 90s. "Close enough for government work" were words to live by in the Goshen, Middlebury, and Elkhart (et. al) area of Indiana. 😅 👍

A merchandise site could be far beyond cups or hats. You could list your for sale inventory as well. Vehicles, beds, specialty. Your viewers really appreciate the honesty and professionalism. JC, I appreciate the fact that this is one of the most spot on, BS free and genuine video I've ever watched on YT. I started watching this channel 3 years ago and have never stopped since. I am exactly the guy you mention in this video that's looking for methods, advice, and confidence to tackle my own projects. Numerous times Ive tackled things myself that I had previously avoided specifically because I've watched your videos. This is hands down one of my top 3 channels I enjoy to watch. What a brilliantly thoughtful explanation of the changes you want to make for the future for your video work at least. It seems that you are approaching, in traffic terms at least, a major roundabout rather than a straightforward cross roads which allows for a differing purpose/outcome? along each avenue. Inevitably some avenues of entry/ exit routes will be much more prominent than others but we shall see as they develop over time Whatever, I will continue to be eagerly watching and listening to your work on both channels in the future. I'm here because of the trucks originally but I absolutely love the variety and I think the 2nd channel is going to bring more of the "other" stuff which is awesome news ! I will say that I have ordered merch from a few channels and Pole Barn Garage has stuck out as the best experience so far.... Dalton seems to use the merch to get the name out while making a few bucks but isn't trying to get rich off of every t-shirt... He has fast shipping, good quality, and fair pricing... I would most likely watch the whole video if you posted a video of you mowing your lawn. But please don't make them shorter. Your attention to detail and doing it right the 1st time (while your there fixing) has helped me know that I am not out on my own island because I fix things with that same philosophy.
