i’m 17 and i am cutting my hair (BIG CHOP) because my hair is damaged from coloring and heat damage, and i will be turning 18 soon so i thought it would be a great idea to start over with a fresh start. i also graduate this saturday and not a lot of people know im doing this 😭 so im nervous and excited. i also joined the marines, so i think cutting it will make my time there a lot easy lol.

I know that i am a year late but I am 18 and did my big chop yesterday. And tbh it is such a relief. Not having to deal with two different textures on my head. I finally got my natural curls back. I am so happy that I finally did it 😭💕💕

I genuinely wish I could cut my hair .. hear me out tho.. my dad is against me cutting my hair off but I’m grown ash but it needs to be done.. (hair in the front is longer than the back.. apparently due to putting my hair in a ponytail) 😭😭🥺

How old are you? Bc if you really are grown I feel like at a certain age you just gotta go for things. Hair grows back and he can’t be upset forever

I’m in the same situation as you. In a few weeks I’ll be 20. For years I’ve wanted to cut my hair short af because I’m tired of putting hours into it when I could be doing something else. I also feel uncomfortable with my long hair; I just don’t feel like myself. Whenever I do get it cut, I don’t want it long again. My father is definitely against it. I tried talking to him about it a few months ago but it went terribly…I hope one day I can get it cut the way I want. It would definitely help with my mental health. Hopefully one day you will get yours cut too. It is your hair; it has always been your hair. If people don’t like it, including your father, then they have to deal with it. What matters is what you want to do with it and what would make you happy. I know that is easier said than done though…no one owns your hair but you. Though it can be so hard to take that first step.
