The 12" mix was THE mix in the '80's, & none were better than Big Country's!

This was the Mega Anthem of the summer of ‘83 in Chicago where I was throwing down at some of the biggest clubs and I would literally run down from the DJ booth and storm the dance floor each and every time with this track, which had it’s own special dance that had me leaping at least 10 feet high. The only two tracks at the time that could logically follow and match its energy was the dance mix of U2‘s 'Two Hearts Beat As One' or Echo in the Bunnymen’s 'Never Stop.'

The outro in incredible I wish It was longer, something about the snare, bass-line and two guitars singing in harmony is so good.

The Crossing was the sound track to the long hot summer of 1983. Probably my best ever summer of my youth. Under a blood red sky and Hathful of Hollow get honourable mentions. But the singles from The Crossing take me back to those Halcyon summer days. 👍💪😃😂🇮🇪🤣😃😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏💚💚💚💚💚

Magnificent song made even better by the stunning intro. Saw these boys in a tent at Leeds Heineken festival in 95 and when they exploded into this the whole place erupted. Iv'e been to absolutely countless gigs since my first in 73 but this was one of the best set sets iv'e ever seen from anyone. Thank You.

Exhilarating, mesmerizing and infinitely uplifting, this is the type of song you would want to charge into battle accompanied with. Amazing, as its nearly supernatural effect upon me cannot be adequately described, only felt, ever so keenly, ever so viscerally, ever so beautifully. And if the fight is right and noble, all while surrounded by thousands of Scottish, Irish and Gurkha soldiers, what force on Earth could withstand this furious and hyper-determined onslaught launched against it with this spellbinding tune being played, ubiquitously and from all angles, while said soldiers charge fearlessly into combat? Love it!!

Maybe I am getting along in years but I find myself listening to a lot of 80's New Wave remixes. The songs take me back to my USAF days stationed in The UK. I feel fortunate I was exposed to great music by Big Country, Waterboys, Simple Minds etc.

Remember seeing BC play this at the King's Hall in Belfast on the Steeltown tour - always recall the look on Stuart's face that night at seeing the entire crowd go utterly and totally mental for them. Best concert ever. Gone But Not Forgotten.

@@samburden9884 U2 were really big fans of Joy Division, however after seeing U2 play in 1984; I started to listen to BC and saw them twice in 1986 Simple Minds music seemed to getting quite popular in the charts by 1985, but their sound wasn't as original like BC, just. disliked Simple minds production on records U2 were getting touring all the time and changing their sound in the mainstream, but were a bit depressing on albums 'WAR' @ Bono was singing about the troubles of Northern Ireland and violence, sad and dark times from the 1970s BC were making music of happiness, promising times, joyful and exciting times, nostalgia and pleasure 🙏👍

The 12" mix is crap. But I can't part with the record because the sleeve picture is the truth. Stick to the cd album version. Or else teach yourself how to play e-bows and military drums and do a twenty minute version, both instrumental and with lyrics. Yeah, that's more like it.
