Without fucking mobile phones, without the internet. Back when this was released, the movie, only the truly rich kids, the %1ers, had internet. The rest of us had Sony Walkmens. The white chicks had puffy ass, sprayed, hair the size of afro's. To call your firends you had to use a pay phone. Do they even exist anymore outside of airports and train stations? Kids, us, we talked to one another on the school bus. No laptops, no phones. Today you would be lucky to even get a glimpse from a kid on a bus. I was 15 in 1985 when this was released.

M.M., this isn't the true 12" version. The original 12" version had only a 4 measure drum intro, while the rest of the song was the same structure as this one. This version with the extended intro was made later by someone else, adding the strings, synth, bass, all of which don't appear in the song again. They also created that little filtered section at 1:20. None of these elements are a part of the original 12" version, which is right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJakn553mqiYfLs

brian chaput No, but making the charts regularly IS what would be considered worthy of recognition. Sure, every fan thinks his favorite band is worthy of more recognition. That doesn't mean they're going to get it if no one else likes their music. You get recognition for being good at something, and being good at making music is generally judged by how many people are willing to pay to listen to what you've performed. Everyone likes to believe that their work is worthy of special recognition. Doesn't mean it is.

@JC Denton well believe it or not alot of great 80s music . Mixed in to some heavy duty raves back in the day . Part of the whole transisions concept . Us 80s synth heads got off . Just the same as we did in the early 80s new wave scene . Which simple minds were apart off. So it's a yes from me .

@JC Denton yeah apart from many other things . I would have like to hear it out in my comment . I miss the 80s best time of my life music wise . ☮️

This song just makes my soul dance, it just gives me the feeling like I was suppose to live that certain feeling during that specific time, but instead got placed in the wrong timeline.
@briankeller18498 жыл бұрын
I was EXACTLY on the timeline. What a time, man. Dorky as hell but it wasn't then, we all knew it was a passing blessing...certain songs, soooooooo many bands...no screamo crap, no lady gaga crap, just great SONGS that like you said, were SOOO relatable you felt like they were written for you alone God bless

you should know that there's never ANYTHING out of place with Spirit....... myself, I wish that I'd been born 10 years earlier (to have witnessed the birth of Rock 'n Roll) but as it is I'm 62 and still listening to contemporary music, mainly electronia and dub so I'm ultra grateful to be where I am (I'm only listening to this track to test out my new cans I brought myself for my B/day) love, peace - and VIBES!!!

This song makes your soul "dance"? Ironically, in 1999, a rock group called the "Bouncing Souls" also performed this song. I've also heard the Billy Idol version of this song; pretty wild, if you ask me. I've also performed this song on the karaoke stage. It's a fun song to sing.

I'd be honored if some 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PRAYING FOR TIME by George Michael and PURPLE RAIN by Prince on my YT channel in tribute to 2 of the greatest vocalist-songwriters in music history. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and RESPECT to the legends.

80s songs are the best because there's no cussing, like this nowadays rap crap, back then you can understand the words in a song with a great talented band that can play real instruments, plus you can dance to it, Like if you agree!!!😀

80's were awesome. You felt safe... Like Reagan or not, it was a safe decade, a decade of simplicity and progress.... A decade of video games that actually had an ending, didn't charge $$ to upgrade for better weapons, etc.... Narcissistic people rarely existed, cynicism was barely in its infant stages... Genuineness was a noble quality, the NBA was worth watching, And 1 HIT WONDERS CHANGED MUSIC FOREVER...
@WilliamXLee6 жыл бұрын
Well, Narcissism was what the 80's was all about....just sayin'.

Actually crime was much higher in the 80s. It only seemed safer because of no 24 hour news.
@FezTheSpaceBiker6 жыл бұрын
"A decade of video games that actually had an ending" Well... if you mean the late 80s and 90s, I could agree with you there. Also I'm pretty sure there were arcade games back then that let you buy upgrades for actual quarters. Gauntlet's health system was even directly tied to how much money you put in. I'll be honest though that's still less egregious than modern microtransactions.
