To this day, the greatest band ever and if you never pogo'd in the crowd to classics like Fields of Fire, then you never got to experience the intensity of it all, saw them 15 times live and they were as brilliant every time. RIP Stuart.

+Tricky Tredder You lucky man. I found BC like 7 years ago and have all their records and DVD's. And of course I have to agree with you :) Thank god we have these DVD's! Me and my friends have Big Country night every year in Christmas time in memory of Stuart.

Tony Butler ... possibly the most under rated bass player of all time
@richwest910410 ай бұрын
This, 110%. Steeltown in particular is HIS album -- he drives the entire thing, from the very first note to the very last. I was lucky enough to have a nice long chat with him at an event a couple of years ago, and a nicer more humble man you could never wish to meet. He adored Stuart and still feels the pain of losing him.

It's actually good when Stuart breaks that string because we get to hear Tony's bassline isolated for a few bars.

Saw them in 1983 in Hammersmith Odeon, they were fantastic, done an encore of this with The Drummer Mark B did a drumming solo for 3 /4 minutes to the Fields of Fire lasting 9/10 minutes. All was shouts of More,More,More all over the Odeon. Best Concert I ever saw. Stuart Adamson R.I.P., you were the Best.

Music from the heart ! First time I saw Stuart Adamson was at the Loch Lomond festival in 1979 when he was playing with the Skids. The Skids blew every band off the stage that day including The Stranglers who are another of my fave bands. Next time I seen Stuart Adamson was at the Reading Rock festival in 1983 and The Stranglers were headlining again. Yeah, Big Country blew them off the stage as well. Coldplay ? Scouting For Girls ? The Wombats ? F*ck off this is real music !

Discreetly stowed away in a corner of the 1980s music scene, Big Country was anathema to the mainstream. A guitar heavy band performing power chords with poetic lyrics. This band simply does not get the lasting credit they deserve.

They tried it on bagpipes, possibly in Canada , its a long time ago. The story was on T.V. possibly the Tube. The result was apparently terrible. Stuart was a genuinely nice guy, as I'm sure all of Big Country are. Saw them on the Fall tour, was this from there? The best gig ever, our little town Fleetwood was added last minuet on a sell out tour. They gave us a pound back on realising how poor Fleetwood was, £5:50 down to £4:50. Big Country did this, not the promoter. Seriously good people. Superb Band.
