I was 17 then and as usual I took them for granted. I'm 53 now and am loving all that Stuart did for us. I have never been more grateful for Big Country in my life. Stuart... you are in all our hearts.

Stuart would have turned 63 today..11 April 1958 Manchester - 16 December 2001 Honolulu. He took his own like a few miles from where I live.. So sad. We you Love Stuart..

In 1987 I bought a ticket to see David Bowie on his Glass Spider tour just because Big Country were the support! Turns out Bowie wasn't bad either :)

They all look like they're having the time of their lives up there, rocking out, giving it all to the crowd and enjoying the energy of the crowd feeding back to them. This is how I prefer to remember Stuart - smiling, playing and singing and for that moment, loving life. RIP to him: to the rest of us, Stay Alive!

Stuart was a genius and Bruce is just Bruce, but Mark and Tony were one helluva rhythm section. Awesome band and no mistake. To see them live was amazing. Especially in the Barrowland

ARNOLD MCGLASHAN Flew to England in 1998 to see them play in the upper Lake District at a community center. The original venue canceled because the staging didn't get approved. The promoter quickly found another venue. Met the boys backstage after the show. Nicest guys ever!!

seen them live at knebworth 86.....if queen were not the main band that day i would have said it was BC, the next day i went out and bought all the BC albums....brilliant live..brilliant on vynl......so sad stuart didnt feel that way....what a tragic loss to the music world...RIP Stuart thank you for what you have left us to listen to...

Played on two Pete Townshend albums. Including the singles, "Let My Love Open the Door and Rough Boys". The Pretenders - "My City Was Gone" and "Back on the Chain Gang" I agree. Fucking amazing, what a talent...

Knebworth think it was 85 or 86 Queen , Status Quo and Big Country I went to watch Queen and ended up falling in love with Big Country Stuart was amazing God Bless his soul.

OMG, he’s sooooo missed, having done/tried the SAME thing, (I totally understand), but tomorrow is ALWAYS ‘better’, I’m so sorry this poor guy/genius felt so desperate to end his life!! 22 years ago we lost Stuart. 16 December 2001 Honolulu, Hawaii A few miles from where I live.. Best Western Plaza Hotel I was a fan of BC from the beginning.. I was in disbelief..

Around 8:43, it looks like Stuart slips and falls. He gets back on his feet really quickly, but that's when he hurts his hand.

I think he must have been accident-prone. Not surprising with their live style. At one I went to he came running out from the side of the stage for an encore song, tripped, went over face-first like a sack of the proverbial - breaking his ribs on his guitar, the music press later reported - and carried on for a few more painful songs!

Never got to see them myself, went to see them at Stirling Castle on hogmanay 1999/2000 and very late on got told they wouldn't be coming on as Stuart didn't show up. Heard he was in New York hitting the drink, dunno if that's true though. Would loved to have seen him

I saw them at the Hollywood Palladium with my best friends from school. It was the greatest show and the best night I will never forget how happy Stuart looked at the reception they were getting in Los Angeles. I love Steeltown to this day.
