I was in a taxi last year in turkey. The driver was a young kid . He was playing 80s music. He loved anything UK from the 80s but had never heard of big country . I showed him this clip and said he should listen to the crossing. 2 weeks later when he arrived to take us back to the airport he was playing this when we got in the car. He said that he was sharing this with his friends locally and they all loved it. He looked so happy. Music is for all to share. Share the love RIP Stuart 👍👍

Whilst living in London in my early 20s, I got a ticket to a Big Country concrrt in Glasgow. 2 friends and I drove up, but Stuart was ill and cancelled. I was broken hearted, but didn't give up. I was an Aussie living in London and it wasn't long before I got o see BC in Kentish Town and in Brixton. The best. Now I live in Switzerland and still love them🥰. Yes, RIP Stuart and lotsa love to his family and friends.

Nowhere near bohemian rhapsody. Queen encapsulated many music genres, big country used Scottish riffs, no comparison.
@jonrichie61105 ай бұрын
Nothing here that can be compared to Queen in anyway shape or form but this band has a sound that was probably more regional than universal. Stuart was an able player and a good song writer but like a one trick pony that evolved along the journey from The Skid's. But look at Status Quo? Another one trick pony too. Again a regional band but legendary in their sound.

The band U2 always wanted to be but never were. Bad Country had better guitarists, a better singer, a better bass player, a better drummer and better songs.
@hopelessstrlstfan1816 жыл бұрын
You said it. I would only disagree to the extent that U2 never quite exactly wanted to be this band simply because before Big Country hit the scene, no one ever imagined a rock band could sound like this. I mean it is totally a rock group sound, but really no blues element at all. I love 'em, but where the hell did they get the idea to make this sometimes cetlic, but not always, driving music with one of the best rhythm sections on earth that has no basis in any previous electric guitar centered music. If I knew what WTF meant in high school, I would have typed WTF and posted that after hearing this band for the first time, except I didn't know what a "post" or a PC was back then (except maybe my brother's trs-80 or that wierd1984 Apple computer ad).

The people running them behind the scenes were cokehead morons who didn't realize what they had on their hands. They comprehensively fucked them up time after time, and then blamed Stuart Anderson for taking refuge in booze - which must have in some small part due to his ongoing frustration with his managers' and record companies and bookers attempts to put a square peg in a round hole. He had a unique voice and they blew it. Meanwhile fucking Bono (and I'm from Dublin btw) is a trillionaire. It's never the talent that makes the mistakes.

Yes, for me too. And they are still on the road. I want to go to UK (from Brazil) for one week just tô see then! I wonder if they would play Porrohman, Inwards or Chance

First time seeing this video and hearing this performance. The trademark "SHA!" at 4:44 hit me like a ton of bricks. To have Stuart still with us today (and happy/at peace)... if he only knew how cherished he was and continues to be.

This is how you make two guitars, one bass and drums sound like an entire orchestra.

BC fan around The Tube years, they saved guitars in an un-guitar time....plaudits a plenty for Adamson and the bass player, rightly so, but Bruce could bloody play too remember, Mark Biedervkch (sic) was unique and could do stuff no other drummer could or has, ask any drummer to repeat his licks and they'll be unable to, he defies traditional rythym 😁

Stuart Adamson....legend...mastered the e.bow when other guitarists didn't even know what it was

Bill Nelson master guitarist from Be Bop Deluxe actually showed Stuart how to play it as Bill used an e-bow extensively in his own work. Bill produced The Skids lp "Days In Europa" and that's when Adamson got to see it.

Well. . .not quite. Robert Fripp, the great guitarist for King Crimson, was asked by David Bowie to come to Berlin in '77. Bowie along with Brian Eno was creating a trilogy of albums at the time he spent in Berlin. The best of which was "Heroes". This is where Fripp unleashed his ebow on this iconic song. Still one of my alltime favs. Stuart Adamson never got the recognition he deserved. He passed too soon. Nonetheless, he left his mark.

The originality, musicianship and technical brilliance of this cannot be overstated.
