Yes, but sometimes curly hair has a mind of its own and doesn't like to do what we want it to. LOL She is just taking the curls that weren't as defined, or were frizzy, and curled those to make them look as nice as the rest. Granted, it does do damage to the hair (ANY heat can damage naturally curly hair), but its her hair, and if she is okay with that, then to each their own! ^_^

Problems girls with curly hair understand 1) it's gonna be hard to maintain curls 2)takes about an hour to straighten(and no one will shut up about how much better you look with straight hair) 3) rain=enemy . girl, you saved my life with this tutorial. My hair is naturally a weird mix of curly and wavy. it usually just looks like a clumpy frizzy mess but I tried this and used a leave in conditioner spray and a frizz cream and blow dried it while scrunching then when it was 80% dry I used some mouse and finish drying it. Then I just used a 3/4 inch barrel curling wand on my straighter pieces and my hair looks amazing and voluminous, I wish I knew about this years ago.

Use a microfiber towel or a t-shirt instead of a regular towel!! It prevents frizz. Also don't completely wash out the conditioner if you wanted your hair to be hydrated. You're doing the opposite of what you should do as a curly girl. :/

Maybe you can use a diffuser for half the time to get definition and then blow dry as you did here so you get definition+volume and you wouldn't have to use the curling wand. That's what works for me maybe it works for you as well.

DemJem try wearing it in braids for about 4-6 months and you'll see a good amount of growth; just washing once a week and conditioning as well, than braided. You'll see lots of growth.

If you have naturally curly hair, I personally would not recommend using heat. If you damage your hair in any way whether that be through heat or bleach or dye or whatever, the curls will be much different or may not appear at all depending on how curly your hair is naturally. I'm speaking from experience.

I find this video great but I feel like you should let your hair air dry, and put metal clips on your roots to increase volume during the drying process. The air dryer does help with time but if you really want really bouncy big curly hair I would recommend this.
