Thank you so much for showing every single step of the wrapping process...and in real time. It was so easy to follow. I get very frustrated with so many tutorials that show you 5 Seconds of the start of the technique and then either speed it up to 10 times the normal speed so you can't keep track of what the heck they're doing or they obscure what they're doing so you can't really see the details of how they're moving their hands with the hair, or they just show you one wrap and then show you the end portion and cut out everything you actually needed to see to be able to follow and thus do the tutorial yourself. So you are a masterful star of teaching in my book! ❤😊🌠

I switched to a silky scarf and for me it works better than the fleece robe belt. There is less friz and the curls are tighter which works good for me since I have long hair. Also I hold the ends with small octopus clips to keep them nice with no dents.

i've been doing a variation of the heatless curls for years. nice little up-do by day, and baffles everyone how great it looks when i let it down later. i must say, though, the zig zag parting is genius for both hiding the parting and adding volume. bravo!
@juanis8219
@juanis8219 Жыл бұрын
How do you normally do it to make it look like an updo?
@PaechesLenore
@PaechesLenore Жыл бұрын
@Juanis I part, and then start a piece from temple fastened with a bobby pin on either side. Using the starting piece, I wrap piece by piece down to the bottom. Continue wrap/twist until the end of hair. For styling, I cross the two pieces over and fasten with a small claw clip. Then continue wrapping each piece around the clip (opening the clip each time to secure new piece) until the end. It sits low on back of head. I've also twisted them into low buns, securing each with a clip. Biggest difference is I wrap the hair on itself, as opposed to around a piece of fabric. I hope this helps!

I'd love to see this done. I have waist lengt hair and had almost 4 inches cut for a fresh holiday look, but always grow it back to butt length basically through summer. I don't use heat often for hair health and do just as you mentioned, wear it up and let it down but mine has lose waves. It's baby fine hair and so far my only heatless tighter curls are when I braid it damp and dry. h@@PaechesLenore

I've worn the rope braid (your first method) now for a while and get daily compliments. I love the loose curls, all the volume and the fact that you don't need any product and I sleep on my back so it works ok but I don't like the way you can see the open parting at the back, so this new upside down zig zag method will be great, thank you so much!

So glad that you videotaped this technique. I have used this technique for years using strips of a thick bath towel, I have been working with hair and wigs for Opera , Ballet, Theatre and film for over 50 years. When you are working with Synthetic hair make sure you steam the tangled hair straight and after braiding wet the braid and steam to create the wave pattern. you can also make several pony tails and use one thick strip of towel with 2 pieces of hair to create the braid. i teach salon hairstylist who want to transition into Theatre and film the fundamentals of creating vintage looks and working with wigs and the protocols for both Theatre and Film. Thanks for sharing. 🙏❤️🇨🇦

I've been doing a simpler headband curl technique for years and I was pretty happy with the results. But I always like tweaking it and trying new things. I tried this for the first time and when I was taking my hair down, I was like, oh no, I failed. But then a little brush and tweaking and I now have the modern shag texture of my dreams! I've never been able to get my hair like this before. I love it! And it really was so much more comfortable to sleep on than my typical headband. Thank you so much! My hair is short and really layered so I slept with it wrapped up in a net scarf so that it wouldn't fall out.

I can’t wait to try this! The robe curls with alternating 360 wraps got me the best results ever, but I am a sensitive side sleeper, so I rarely do it. (Basically only when my schedule lets me I do it in the morning and wear it all day at home.) My go-to is a padded tool that makes a topknot (sort of like a satin donut bun form WTH an integrated scrunchie) but you can’t alternate directions and it sits on top of the head, so you get long sections on top that can end up flat or wonky, and I usually end up needing to do touch-ups with a heat tool. That is maybe 70% as good as proper robe curls, but doesn’t interfere with my sleep. This looks like it will take some practice, but if I can sleep in it, I will be so excited.

I love the idea of starting from the back because an issue i have with my naturally wavy hair is that the further i go toward the back the looser/farther things are from the part... which is problematic because my natural pattern doesn't get curled and things just look... bad. Like halfway down my head it's my natural pattern then suddenly it's the robe waves and they dont at all match. It doesnt look sleek at all and it's so irritating that i dont even bother with the robe curls. I hope this technique, with it being so close to the top of the head and starting from the back, will solve that problem.

Thank you for this vid. My hair is all one length down to middle of the rear. Thick. I'm 73 years. My hair is natural color, grey and brown. I've been just letting it go natural with the natural curl. But its tiny zig zag waves. I'm going to try this method to smooth it. Probably need to have more than 2. Thanks again. You hair is beautiful.

Have been thinking about a more comfortable method for heatless curls. Like you say you want a good night’s sleep but want pretty hair too! I’ve stopped blow drying completely after watching your robe tie tutorial way back. So relaxing and comforting to listen to you. Looking forward to trying this method. This will take me some practice though so I shouldn’t do it too close to bed when I’m tired. Lol.

Same, loved the other method and managed to sleep on it for the first year because I just loved the result, then I started to hate it 🤣 a lacklustre sleep for good curls wasn’t cutting it for me anymore. This is great!

Gorgeous! As a great-grandparent and retired hairstylist, this brings back memories of childhood Rag Curls, from the 19th and early 20th century. Obviously, these curls are a lot softer due to the thicker robe tie and more thoughtful placement. Rag Curls tended to be randomly placed on the scalp, completely ignoring any idea of comfort or outcome. What stands out to me, though, is your technique of alternate wrapping. It's brilliant! This is my first time watching your channel, so I haven't seen what else you offer, but I must say that I also like how you developed a way to add volume at the root, on the crown. Again...brilliant! I have short hair now in my old age, but I have been growing out the hair at the crown to add length and try some new styles. My hair is completely white now, so I have to be careful not to apply too much heat, or the hair becomes singed and turns yellow. I've been searching for a no-heat method to add a bit of curl and some volume, and I think I've found it here. Well, I'm off to subscribe and find me a soft tie to try out your method. Wish me luck, and thank you for sharing your technique.

This was so great to read. I remember my Mum doing rag curls on me as child and I agree, no comfort and the ends used to be quite scraggly 😅 This is my second video of this technique, the first still uses the same alternating wrapping technique but in the traditional manner of placing them down either of the head, much like Dutch braids. Still a gorgeous outcome, I just started to find that comfort of sleep Vs results wasn’t enough of a tipping point for me 🤣 so I came up with this method that was much more comfortable for side sleepers AND gave more root volume! Your white hair sounds glorious, my Nan has pepper grey hair and despises it. She longs for natural white hair so yes, very important for you to keep it white! I hope you enjoy trying this method, and perfecting it in your own manner to suit your shorter style.

I love this method, and I so appreciate you showing us how to do both sides. I’ve seen plenty of videos about this before but it does help to see two sides, one after the other. Now all I need is a robe tie. I don’t have one and no one I know has one to spare so I’ll have to figure that out. Anyways, thanks for sharing your technique. I’m going to try it ASAP.

If you can find a child’s bathrobe cheap that’s a great way to get your hands on one! It’s the soft terry material that I find works the best, rather than the harder material that some adult bathrobes come with. So pleased you found this method and seeing both sides helpful! Let me know how you get on trying it.

I was actually searching for the unicorn method that’s been around lately, but I think I’m going to try this instead!! I have a “robe tie” I made myself with silk, so it’s a silk cylinder that I stuffed with soft foam. I wasn’t sure what I would use for the unicorn method and my silk curler will work perfectly for this method. This is so brilliant. I stopped doing the normal method because I was getting breakage on the sides from sleeping on the wrapped hair. Edit: I just went and watched a unicorn method tutorial, and while it seems like an ok method it suffers from the “curls all going to same way” problem. The reverse method seems superior! Here I go to try it lol. My hair is so coarse and sticky it’s so hard to do this kind of stuff haha

I think I'll prefer this method. My only complaint with the original method is that my fringe, as you call it, is more flat with very little volume on top. I use a long, rectangular scarf instead of a robe tie; I have medium length, very thick hair. Thank you for a new method!

This really isn't overnight hairstyle for everyone. You have to be at least a little experienced at braiding. I tried it tonight and it turned out looking great! I did it with long scarf. It was easier than other sleep-in hairstyles that I tried (and without the scarf). I like that it stays in place! I was looking for nice overnight curls hairstyle but also comfortable to sleep in and this is it! Thank you! Can't wait for the results in the morning

I'm really excited to try this! I've really loved the way my hair curls with the robe-tie method (it's honestly the only way I've been able to get my hair to curl nicely without heat). But, the other day, I was just thinking to myself about how I wish it did a better job curling my hair on the back of my head. My hair isn't super long to begin with so I've hard time incorporating that part of my hair until the very end and then I end up with really beautiful curls in the front but this weird U shape in the back with hardly anything. Plus I've noticed that the place where I part my hair is really visible so I was wondering how to fix that. This couldn't have come at a better time! I'll see if I can try it tonight! :)
