Chien-Pao ex and Alolan Vulpix VSTAR make for a great pairing! One can dole out massive damage, while the other can prevent damage from attackers with abilities. It's a cool way of having answers to much of the competition!

Ive been just getting into tcg and have been finding these usefull along with me making my own decks, ive been using a decj recently with chien pao vulpix, palkia and crabominable as the main attackers, depending on the situation, plus I think crabominable is just really good with cleanup

Welcome to the community and thank you for watching! Sounds like you have a bit of a box deck going. Crabominable isn’t the most popular tech include, but it has seen use in competitive play for the reason you’ve mentioned.

Definitely play Lost Vacuum. A path to the peak you can’t take care of and you’re screwed. And there’s some dragon move that won’t allow you to play stadiums from your hand. Can’t remember the name. But Vacuum is a must include for me.

How useful do you feel the vstar ability of vulpix is in the list as compared to palkias?

Id still prefer palkia vstar simply cause you have a more bulkier vstar that hits heavy and can set up pokemons like kyogre to respond as a single prizer

Tried to play this today and it's like everyone in the world watched your vid... so...many... electric... no ability... counters. Got absolutely destroyed by a Mew2 vmax deck. It was like turn 1 on I was getting one shotted. Couldn't even get one of key pokemon down, got screwed on the first turn with only Lumeon being playable, went down from there.

@InThirdPerson I think I'm finding the balance, played a lot today and went on a really nice streak. Im still a noob, but it feels like the lay down is so important for this setup. If you can get the hydroplant going, it can be a shutout. If you can't, whew lad. Thinking of subbing out Lumey, never seems to be near the top of the deck at the start and when fishface manages to be, it's always the primo two prize card target for boss' orders with its low HP.

@@Hokie200proof The trade-off for getting rid of Lumineon is that it's then tougher to access Irida or other supporters when you need it. I don’t have it handy, but I did see a Chien-Pao list out of Japan featuring Kyurem. I’m leery of Kyurem dropping 3 prizes, but its bulk certainly makes it worth testing out!

Palkia is probably going to be better in more match ups, but Vulpix is an interesting tech against some of the more popular match-ups (Gardevoir, Chien-Pao, Lost Box, etc.)

Palkia is a great include in this deck. If you cant get an energy retrieval in hand or something shuts off Baxcaliber you can set up Palkia with itself and at least get some damage in.
