That saw is cutting better than I have ever seen one cut very nice. Love your videos I have always cut trees on the farm but after watching some of your videos wanted to start climbing and cutting allot harder than it looks lol. Oaks are very hard to climb here because they are huge with big limbs. Spikes are allot to learn y'all make it look easy.

Buckin', I can not image what your are feeling these days. My father took me to the woods and it is probably the sole reason I took to it so much. He has been gone for 8 years now but in reality he is with me every day, in my work and in the trees. Hogan is doing so well and he has a good teacher to keep him safe. Setting the example by making a few changes ourselves is such a good thing. Hogans top was perfect!!!! Be Well All

When you were showing that new chain and filing you brought back a bad memory for me. 35 years ago I was pulling a new chain backwards like you when checking chain tension. My grip slipped cutting thru a leather glove cutting and a finger nearly to the bone. Never pull one backwards since. always in the run direction.

After woork today I spent some time in my shop to sort out my alaskan mill ( put a winch on it with some blue Amsteel rope on it ) made a small pulley to double up a tab for a carabiner on the frame and some chain and a pin that will hold the chain in the end of the log that gets milled. Then got home to this video , feet up and a coffee ... nice end to the day.

Hey yesterday was your birthday.! :-D. I have been using a Stihl 200T for trail care and ground the chain aggressive to cut up down logs quickly, thus it is a little grabby. Last week, I was using it on a 40' man lift to limb out 5 60' jack pines. I attempted two snap cuts on two large limbs. Both times, the saw grabbed as the limb left loose and down went my saw, no damage. Then on Thursday last week, I was working on a standing dead tree along our driveway. I was up 40', but the stump was another 15' below the road. Unaware I had an audience, I limbed it, then cut the top out. I shoulda known then I was in for trouble when I had all but a piece the size of a quarter cut out and still couldn't push over the top. I attempted to chunk out a 6' piece, and at the last moment, the saw caught again slamming me against the cage as I tried to keep the saw in hand as the piece went over. The poor saw took a 60' drop all while I was saying all kinds of expletives. My next issue was the lift will not let you lower the main boom when it is not level, so I had to drive it over to the other side to a bank so I could jump the final 15 feet to the ground. That is when I noticed the audience. So now, I had to scale down a near vertical bank of nothing but coal dirt from the 20's and 30's to retrieve my saw. The climb back up was difficult, you climb a foot or two and slide back down. You have to grab whatever you can find to pull yourself back up, but, in the end, I was rewarded by a group of onlookers (audience) clapping and cheering as I made it backup to the road. The saw survived the fall, the chain did not. It was bent in a couple of places. When I started working on the pines, I was going to tether the saw to my climbing belt. Who knows what would've happened if I had. I'm sure it is something I did wrong. With the pines, it was a limb. With the dead tree, it was a vertical trunk. I did the front cut first, then the back cut. Maybe I took too much from the back cut before stopping the cut.?
