Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked the Emergency, a day ahead of its 50th anniversary, saying it was a "blot" on India's democracy "when the Constitution was discarded", in his remarks ahead of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were "attacking" the Constitution and said it was not acceptable to the Opposition-led INDIA bloc.
Addressing reporters on the day ahead of the first day of the Lok Sabha, he said that no power can touch the Constitution. He also showed a booklet of the Constitution to the reporters after giving his brief remarks.

Excellent opening question Rajdeep. I won't be surprised if some BJP MLA could raise the next Lok Sabha 2 minutes silence for hardships faced by Hindus from Muslim conquests since 1526 Ad to 1751 AD and British conquest thereafter from 1751 AD to 1947 AD. It is high time ancient history and happenings are buried and strongly refuted by I.N.D.I.A. parties JOINTLY and force this NDA to discuss real present economic and development issues. Only then can Democratic Development start in our nation.
