I don't get the "don't talk about WWII" cliche. It is totally fine to talk about WW II. It is a heavily discussed topic in German schools and you'll find at least one report about historic events in WW II a week in local newspapers or on TV. It is a topic heavily discussed between Germans. There is absolutely no problem talking about WW II, as long as one is respectful about it. It is a sensitive topic after all and pretty much every European has lost family members in the war. It is about respecting the casulties and, what is more, make sure something like back then does NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. The only thing that you can't do are denying the holocaust, perform a Hitler salute or display the Swastika (doesn't count for historic film / fotos of course). Those things are actually even prohibited by law. Thats why we get irritated when (not generalising, I know its few people who behave like that, but still waaaaay to many) Americans come over here, call everyone German they don't agree with a Nazi, do Hitler salutes when greeting a German "for fun" or ask stupid questins (e.g. is Hitler still leader of Germany) and still insist, that they know everything about WW II and we are, in fact, wrong.

Let me guess. Döner, public transport, small houses and they are direct and cold but once you make friends you have friends forever

Döner is usually beef, lamb or chicken, not pork.

For a German it´s no problem to talk about WW2 , but you should not reduce Germany to it (like American Movies do). Btw. your German is very good!

Did you know that the Brothers Grimm didn't actually write all these fairy tales? They were folk tales that people used to tell each other and the Brothers Grimm were the ones to write them (or at least one version of them) down. Might be interesting to know
