I think RMC could make a family thrill single rail if asked, just like Intamin could make an extreme single rail if asked. But the biggest advantages with the Intamin one right now is the restraints and a proven launch.

This is a great ride for Luna Park… it doesn’t need to compare to the intense RMCs because it’s the main coaster in a park aimed at families and tourists. If it was a crazy ejector machine I think it wouldn’t appeal to as wide an audience.

A small park with a RMC single rail and this could complement each other well. Single rail coasters may be the future! Nice review as always. I feel like even a park with the three single rail models from the three companies that offer them, along with a Gerstlauer eurofighter, a family or thrill invert from Vekoma or Gerstlauer, and a wooden family coaster would be a solid park with the cheaper coaster options.

Definitely not an RMC Raptor but wow is it unique. I would love to experience a launch on a sungle rail coaster and the cool pacing it has. Not necessarily intense pacing like the Raptors but still fast, I wish to see some more of these if they are any good.

The Big Dipper name is confusing, but its of course there to honor the heritage and also I think to use the Big Dipper sign on the entrance haha. The building and sign was always there, but before the Big Dipper now there was a HUSS Trioka named "Tumble Bug" (also named after an opening day attraction) on the top where dipper's station is so it was quite confusing.

Thanks for the review. I like the look of the restraints & seats. It looks like it doesn't force your feet way off to the sides like with RMC single rails. That will make a massive difference to my enjoyment of these rides personally, but it's too bad that it isn't as extreme as RMCs versions. Intamin rattles feel different to me, never causing me any problem, but I wonder if it may feel different on a single rail.

@@wooltron1 Those single rail trains cause all kinds of issues. They cause me pain in my knee tendons. I don't normally sit with my knees together and feet way out to the sides, so that hurts.

tbh the longest wait ive ever had at big dipper was 30 - 45 minutes. all the gates were filled to the brim and they were running 1 train

This was a fun coaster and glad to ridden it in January and as you said Australia a lot of really good coasters as well a lot of their flats add several parks had wildlife experiences add the lizards every now and then.

Why do any new coasters have anything other than just lap bars? Surely it's not a safety issue. Is it a liability/regulation issue? Or would the forces on some coasters be unpleasant if the torso weren't restrained somehow?

I wouldn't want to ride a rollercoaster with intense positive Gs if there was nothing stopping my upper body from flopping over. Although, these days, most rollercoasters are more focused on airtime, so lapbars are preferable.

Multiple Mack rides instruct riders to cross arms before restraints go up. I would not be surprised if Luna borrowed that protocol from the rides in Gold Coast.

I'd guess that this Inamin single rail coaster has potential for starting with less bugs: it isn't as thrilling RMC single rail coasters where ride ops forgive you for removing the soft OTSRs, like when I was riding Jersey Devil last May/June. I hope this model ends up making better single rail coasters, since they're already more comfortable riding (at least according to what I've heard so far). Thanks for posting!

Intamin also produced overhead lap bar restraints on their pseudo-wing coasters, like Skyrush at Hersheypark and Flying Aces at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, but those aren't the same as the ones on Taron at Phantasialand and Red Force at Ferrari World. What do you think?

my POP has actually ridden the original Big Dipper 1. he said it felt like it was going to through him into the harbour! which I am guessing means the airtime was insane. he said it also felt like it was going full speed the whole time.

Your POP is correct. It was a great ride. I have great memories of riding the original wooden big dipper many times as a kid back in the 1970s. It's stats were mild by today's standards but it was a fast and furious ride with a great first drop. Safety was questionable as I remember me and my mate holding the loose seat together as we flew around the track. it probably wouldn't pass inspection today.

The staff at this park was great! I never get mad at an employee for "stapling". It's their job to lower the bar to the lap of riders. These new Intamin lap bars are wonderful though. They are comfortable even when all the way down and have a little give for airtime.

Hear me out Dueling Intamin Hot Racer at Phantasialand in a Cyberpunk themed area, where one side is a futuristic-underground Gang and the other resembles the Police. The chase takes place in the whole City, on vertical highways, through shortcuts and Tunnels and so on... they could pull it off if they wanted to. They also Break the 14 inversion record, while having 8 inversions per side on the drawn out layout, and you ride both of them similar to Twisted Colossos. I said it first

I dont Think it might happen without one - and a coaster this compact should be able to have a Layout that can pack many inversions while still not only having inversions. With the right theming it could be really cool. Imagine going through a themed Tunnel where everything is upside down with a zero G stall, with a road painted to the ceiling. Or a Jojo Roll where the room twists with you like a Vekoma madhouse. an inversion heavy ride would fit the futuristic theme, where humanity overcame Gravity or something. Could be connected to a fictional company like in rookburgh

I've felt actual pain from the raptor restraints and the ibox trains aren't much better. I'm kind of surprised that such good layouts have god awful restraints that almost ruin the rides. The raptor restraints do ruin such an amazing coaster

It's just meh from me dawg. I think people might be expecting rmc raptor type ride and typically family rides don't have multiple inversions. Just saying seems like this ride doesn't know what it wants to be. Maybe the park should make it more clear or market it as a family coaster
