In this video I install the very sexy Wilwood Superlite 6R brake kit on the front of the 1973 Autoedit Ford Mustang.
This will be the first of three videos documenting how to build a complete brake system for a vintage Ford Mustang. This video covers the front install, the next brake video will show the Drum to Disc Brake Conversion on the rear axle of the Mustang and the last install video will show the running of all new brake lines, master cylinder/proportioning valve and pedal assembly. Once the car is running again I will follow up on how to adjust the brakes for city driving and track day events so stay tuned and don't forget to hit the subscribe button!

good stuff, always thought the lip of the seal faces what your trying to keep in, and found it easier to load a bearing with a glob of grease in the palm of your hand and scrap the bearing on your palm until grease flows up the top :D looking forward to the next installment.

Hi Jason, love your videos man they're cool, you've put a lot of ideas into my head on things to do to my 1982 Falcon Fairmont (I'm in Aus' & the Falcon is still going down here but only till the end of the year), I'm particularly interested in the front suspension stuff! I to am using a 302W the only difference is I've had my motor since 1975. Keep up the good work.........

Great video man. One of your best classic style video. Those brakes look awesome and mega expensive. I understand the un-sprung weight and less heat conduction benefits of the aluminium hat but why I would get them is the look, they look SOOO tough. Awesome build man,

Your bearing packing method is flawed and time consuming. Just put the grease in the palm of your hand and scrape the cage on the big side of the bearing through the grease. That will force the grease into the rollers.

HELLCOMESTOTOWN Hey thanks! I keep meaning to get out into the hills with the Jeep but work has kept me pretty busy...but overall the Jeep has been running really good. The suspension has been absolutely great for what I have needed from it, mostly city and freeway driving and some trails. The only things on the wish list for the Jeep is different axle ratios to match the 32" tires and Detroit Lockers!

You produces great videos and could be a great Hot Rod Garage host. I really like your working man Hot Rod project opposed to crazy expensive crate engine conversion that we see all over the MT channel. I have also noticed that the storytelling has changed on many MT videos since he joined. Keep on the good work on the Mustang and on the MT channel.

Charles Leblanc Thanks so much for the cool thought! I am actually really happy over at the Motor Trend channel right now...super busy, but happy. The production team is an amazing group of people that I enjoy working with. I learn new stuff all the time and like to think that my "old school" style of storytelling mixed with their "newfangled" fancy production techniques works well for the show I'm working on right now.

Nice video. I've seen many of these conversions and upgrades videos, and If you are not doing this conversion yourself, and having a shop you trust do it, you show it's not "rocket science" with a complete quality good kit, and should not take 15 hrs. of LABOR!! Two to 3 hrs tops for and install I'd say, 'course always get an estimate for a job at a shop. Or buy just your own shop, and the $150 k of tools and equipment!!

So I have a question for you. I haven't been able to find an answer so far and I've even done some research; I have a '71 GMC Sierra and I wanted to use a wilwood brake kit to convert it disc brakes. Here's the problem; I have a 7 spoke axle for the truck (to clarify: 7 lugs go on the rim to secure it to the axle), if I wanted to swap that out for a 6 spoke axle, do you think that there would be a difference in size between the axles? Would there be any problems with the differential? I want this thing to fit but finding 7 spoke rims is extremely difficult and I would like to put new rims on the truck.

Did this Willwood brake system push out the tire position from the stock set up? If so how much? Great video, and I love see it on the track. I currently have 600 lbs coil springs 1” lowered, do you think the 550 lbs coil over is sufficient? Thanks for your videos.
@AutoEdits
@AutoEdits 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't measure the track width before so I couldn't tell you how much wider if at all. The 550 springs felt great with this setup. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4StaGWbdruNfLc
