Observation: Ovcharkas have extra fur around their hind legs and around their neck. Those are the two most targeted areas by wolves in a fight. The extra fur not only helps soften the bite but also makes the enemy misjudge their bite due to an appearance of an inflated size. Nature's way of saying this is why these characteristics survived on this breed.

These are misconceptions. These dogs no longer physically have anything in their genes from the ancient sheepdogs. They were bred in Moscow to guard the gulag camps. I don't know the owner of the youtube channel, but I know from several people I know that the wolves in the Carpathians kill these 'brutal' dogs when they want to. The Caucasian Shepherd, for example, is not a good sheepdog at all because it cannot work in a pack. Or it attacks the rest of the pack all the time, with the consequence that the pack will attack it after a while. Kangals would be better, but they are stupid. They see a wolf at the edge of the forest, they go after it. The wolf enters the forest, where the rest of the wolf pack awaits the Kangal...

True. COs are outstanding at what they were developed and bred for. That being highly aggressive guard dogs used in some of the harshest environments. They are not flock or herd dogs. Kangals and Anatolian Shepherds are not great either. They are used for LGD work but are easily outsmarted and drawn off a flock as you rightly point out. More often, they are fought for sport in their native land. There are much better options. I own and have owned COs and speak honestly. God help anyone who threatens their owner or property. Also, they can be socialized and desensitized so that they can protect in a pair. Though this is dependent of opposite sex pairing and individual personalities. If they decide you are a threat, they will not hesitate to kill. It doesn't take much for one or two 180 to 220 pound dogs to kill an unarmed human. An intact male will become dangerously reactive towards other dogs in its territory. Especially if a female is present. They are not a breed to be trifled with.

I used to have this breed that was with the sheep at one point, it came back all bloody and torn, I didn't understand what happened, then I saw 3 wolves rejected by the sheep, that dog handled 3 wolves by itself, its name was Casper, it's about 90 kg , it's hard for me to take pictures, another dog or a wolf could be worn.

Close...but I like Tibetan Mastiffs just as well. If I were 20 years younger, I'd seriously consider crossing the two breeds...just for my own uses. Would likely make a more physically stable offspring as well. My breeding days are LONG over but I'm in the market for a good Ovcharka male pup for my small farm in West Virginia. I have only 75 acres but I'm backed up to a National Forest and my nearest neighbor is a bit more than 7 miles away.

Strong affirmation has to demonstrate acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. If your puppy keeps biting you they are not sure if that behavior is ok or not. You need to show that every time the puppy tries to bite you, it is not ok. Something as simple as just holding your hand on the back of the neck firmly and using a stern voice while saying no could work as long as you have the patience to maintain it till the puppy stops biting and starts trying to understand what you are trying to communicate. If every time they do an unapproved behavior and you hold them and keep repeating the disapproval in a stern tone, they will start being conditioned more and more. The key is patience and consistency.

You have them in the run while work is being done on the property or while you are housing the dog a for offsite work. Those are not pet babies, they are working dogs. You let them out when you go sleep and they guard the grounds. Some people are born yesterday, 14 upvotes too and no one answering the obvious.

My German Shepherd is exactly like this, in a 95 pound size. Once I had just moved into a house with a chain link fence, I thought he was secured- then a neighbor dog challenged him, barking aggressively from the next yard... my dog SWAM under that chain link, there's no other way to describe it, he just got his head at the bottom and dug in with all four feet until he broke under and was instantly on top of that dog, which was screaming...I went over the fence and pulled him off, thank God the dog (50-60 lb hound) was okay and no permanent damage... Shepherd dogs are fucking scary...unless they're yours...

iubesc foarte mult caucazieni am si eu unul. te felicit ai niste caini foarte frumosi.in clip-ul cu pitbul parca sunt cam 7 lupi,nu este echitabil.desi pitbulul pierde in fata la 2 lupi ceea ce nu se intampla la un caucazian totusi clipul este mult peste puterile unui pitbul (nu este corect). nu iubesc rasa pibul,nu am avut niciodata insa le admir forta si curajul (desi muscatura de pitbul este pe jumate ca forta fata de caucazian ,insa are inclestare ceea ce-l avantajeaza daca are noroc sau din contra i-l face vulnerabil la mai mult de un caine.).

What an awful video. This breed of dog should NEVER be in enclosures like these. They are a guarding breed used to roaming their territory just the same as Kangal shepherds. These dogs should be free to roam the property they defend 24 hours a day and only have housing stations as a source of water and food that they can coke and go from freely. Idiotic owners imo.
