Decended from the Tibetan Mastiff which would explain their aggression. There are different representations of the breed though. The Russians wouldn't have to do anything to make them more aggressive than they already are. The people who bred those dogs also purposely bred their dogs with the wolf to make it stronger, and a more effective fighter, and also to help it adapt to the harsh environment. They had to breed the dog periodically to the wolf or over time it would lose those advanages over the generations.

In the wild, the canines, wolves in this case are "just the right sized" they really can be too big, or too small. Too small and they can't make the kills they need to make. Too large and like ALL predators that failed, they will be too bulky and need too much food. No, they are the size evolution has made them, breeding a dog to be bigger--proves nothing really, except the obvious, that it is bigger. Out in the wild, it could never keep up, as it would tired too easily. Look at the "Liger" on the Feline side, Way bigger than a Lion, or a Tiger, yet in the wild today, it would not be quick enough to catch the animals that exist today. Jmichael Isbell, Wolves can be huge. It is not uncommon to have 175 lbs wolves from Canada. Wolves can be very powerful. We have seen footages of a single wolf pulled down an elk. No dogs can do that. I love dogs and I would not allow my dog or dogs to fight wolves alone. Best thing to do, if you see wolves near your pets, shoot first and explain later.

Acctually saddens one to see this beautiful wild and strong animal be intimidated by that dog, anyway, But the caucasion is no regular dog. Im fairly certain that wolves will be able to dominate most other dog breeds, even the ones bigger than themselves, but again apart from the caucasion, since the caucasion just has a different mentality than most other dog breeds it is bred to charge and kill other predators, you dont fuck with them unless youre at least just as big.

Really. Thank you. My Rooster (Ovcharka) took on a pack of real wolves the ventured onto my property. He inveiserated one before I arrived with my 9MM. He injured another while having his leg in the mouth of a third. I put that one and the pack backed off. He is gentle and kind, but I never saw him like that. Fearless and a battle animal. It took me over an hour to calm him down from his instinct to kill. Wonderful dog, God bless.

The concept of the Ovcharka and other wolf 'fighting' dogs was to act as a deterrent. As if to say, there's food else where don't risk taking on this massive creature. Most wolf 'fighting' dogs are larger than your average wolf and the potential for injury is high. If you properly trained 3 of them it would be rare for them to have much combat with wolves since, for the wolves, a small injury can mean death.

I don't know WHAT happened to her prior to me adopting her,I can only imagine. However,she does not run away from other dogs,in fact,she lunges towards them I have to hold her back.

@@memsat2001 Sadly that happens all too often, the prior owners clearly failed to mould her into a confident and worry free dog, at that age it's usually too late, as the socialisation period starts too end at around 16 weeks old, new experiences will be stressful for her, I'd suggest checking out the Animal Desensitizing Sounds playlist, start off low volume and increase volume over time also play with her during "the experience" if still no change perhaps consider talking to your vet for anxiety medication . To stop her lunging will take some patience, instead of approaching the Dog Walker when walking, get her to sit until the Dog Walker has passed, then continue your walk and of course always reward good behaviour, even if shes just lying there quietly, Good Luck!

а то в горах богатые идиоты жили по твоему? , породе больше 2 тыс лет, кормят эту лошадь, разводят просто ради прикола, еды видимо у них очень много раз выращивают корм для волка. Люди далекие от пород волкодавов такие наивные. Эта собака долгие годы была единственным средством от волков - палка нож и собака. В горах люди очень бедны, скот по сути единственное что было издревле у людей чтоб пропитаться да небольшой участок земли. Просто так для развлечения такое большое животное никто держать не будет.

Wolves may be more wild and smarter but just the sheer strength of those type of dogs and what they were breed to do outweighs that advantage. Me and my dog pack were out in Alaska on holiday when we were caught in a huge blizzard we had to camp under the snow and we were ambushed by wolves my dog killed one and the other 5 ran away. Блин да нет у собак никакого специального отдела в мозге ответственного за страх перед волками, чтобы проверять отсутствие этого страха. Они по меркам эволюции слишком рано разделились чтобы у собаки сформировался хоть какой-то инстинкт отсутствующий у волка (всё что есть в поведении у волков есть и у собак просто в сильно модифицированном виде). Этот тест на бесстрашие можно было просто провести посмотрев на реакцию при знакомстве с другими крупными собаками. Нефиг волков беспокоить.

да заткнись ты, пес как только заметил волков насторожился и занял свое место, затем пес следил за волком и как только тот сделал шаг в сторону хозяина пес перекрыл ему путь, кавказская не ведет себя так по отношению к собакам, она сразу грызется и лает а тут молча следил, это явно заметные различия в поведении и говорит об отличной породе у кавказца

simple logic dogs are bred to defend territorial by humans. wolves are bred for survival in the wild. i guess depending on the terrain one would have the upper hand over the other.
