+Huw James I though I just explained it...for best results in static apnea every muscle in your body needs to be relaxed, that's why records are done in a pool, floating in a weightless state...muscles are not very relaxed if you strain them by put a tank with that much water on them...even tapping with his legs is using oxygen

Ive got one, leaks through my beard. And doesnt look as good on stage either. I could also have just not breathed for 2 minutes but again, no showmanship there. Im sure Houdini could have done all his escape acts on dry land but they look better underwater.
