Been ultralight fishing for multi species my entire life. My favorite way to fish. Small jigs, rooster tails, and small topwater Rapala minnows and life bait every now and then. Also do same set up for light tackle fishing but include plastic worms. So have one for ultralight and one for light tackle.

That is so awesome having that creek running through the middle of town and yet it's secluded. I absolutely love water ways like that. And such a diverse variety of warm water species! That smallie was a good size for a creek like that and then to land that catfish. Great job keeping him on Ethan and not letting him get caught up in the wood. That is some serious angling skill right there! I expect to see more from this wonderful little oasis!
@FishAnything4 жыл бұрын
I will be back for sure. I would like to focus in on this creek and see if I can target smallies. Something tells me there are very few in there. But I guess the only way to find out is to get out and try!
@FitzYakin4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir! Is that a Lake Michigan trib Ethan? I feel the tribs will hold SOME smallies throughout the summer but I think a vast majority head back out to the deeper, colder lake water.

Hi! I'm a 65 year old (Minnesota) kayak fisherman who just wanted to say that your enthusiasm is contagious :). Sure, everyone wants to catch that "wall hanger" (me too!) but I, like you, enjoy catching anything...a fish is a fish. I have that Diawa reel and recently paired it with a 5'6" ultra light rod. So, when the big bass...pike...walleye aren't cooperating, I still have something to do. The lakes I fish are paved with pan fish :). So...anyway, I did just put in an order for some jigs in 2 colors, and a sticker for my kayak. Keep it up. Tight lines!

Fun video. Best way to take the load off your wrist when your rod is loaded is to hold the reel softly and allow the rod butt to rest against your forearm. Love small creeks. I have a special one that I fish on some weekends. Load up the Harley & run 150 miles. Throw on waders and a backpack. Hike about a half-mile into a valley through tall grass and brush to a spring feed stream and a backdrop of 80’+ limestone bluffs. Catch 40+ smallmouth Bass up to 4 lbs. mostly on Z-Man 1/15th oz. or1/10th oz. Bullethead Jigs and Z-Man TRD Finesse Worms (2.75”). Hike up out of the valley 90 minutes before sunset. Load up the Harley and ride home. Air out the waders in the garage and do it all again the next day! Only saw one person ever and it ended up being a fly fishing expert who knows crazy me. Exhausting but so much fun. Last two trips I used a new BFS (Bait Finesse System which uses a Baitcasting reel that can cast a light lure) and still exceeded to 40+ catch rate. Glad to know you own Mule Jigs. Be well.
@FishAnything4 жыл бұрын
Dude that spot sounds pretty darn magical! I wish I had half the adventure you have when you do that :) Also - BFS is so fun! Seems like we have very similar fishing styles - you just know how to catch them better XD

Online Outdoorsman On any given day I can get skunked. I fish with my Shi-Tzu from my bassboat and from shore and my dog gives me the greatest pressure. If I haven’t caught a fish in a while, Teddy (aka “Thunder”when he is on the Harley) will make a very quiet whine (like “come on Loser”)! Of course, he gets one small fish per outing which he will eat from head to the gills. While he does ride on the back of my Harley, he wouldn’t last stream fishing....Hell, the hike to the streams would kill him and the hike up and out are worse. P.S. I am really enjoying my Shimano Alberbaran BFS reel but cannot find the upgraded Avail 16ALD15R Spool in stock anywhere! Be well.

I got almost the same lures you got. That clear looking minnow lure. I got ones smaller, same size, and bigger.. All colors. I can drop that lure in the middle of 10 fish and they bite at it and chase it around but I can't get them to swallow the hook. Those little jig head minnows.. I got glow in the dark ones and everything.. I kept thinking my lures are too big but then I saw you catch a little fish with with yours. I fish a pond in my neighborhood and it's got a bridge that goes across the pond. When I fish on the bridge, I can see whole schools of little to medium fish right below me. And I haven't caught a single one yet. When I drop any lure around them, they're all over it but I just can't hook one.
