That was thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Mixed bag fishing is a treat. It reminds me of late August fishing on the Great South Bay between Amityville and Lindenhurst in the 1970s. Weakfish, porgies, blues, sea bass, and yup, dog fish and sea robins.

Weakfish are a light sweet fish and should be eaten fresh not frozen. However there are so few and need to be about 18 inches for a good fillet unless you're very good with a knife. Best to throw them back for the future. They look good, fight good, and taste good.

Hi John. Been watching your videos for couple years. You are doing a great job for us guys that don't get to fish as much as we would like to. I'm going to Sag Harbor next week to be with my ailing mother (95 years old) and hope to live line bunker around Shelter Island...maybe the stripers haven't left yet and catch a weakfish south of buoy 16. If I catch one of those bluefish, I will fry a fillet in a pan lightly breaded with butter just like my mom would do for us with snappers. Mike from Maryland.

Went out on the Flamingo and caught a keeper Striper 11lbs, bunker was so thick these fish were full, you can read them on the fishfinders, but would not bite.

As far as I know, there are no regulations that say you can't tip a bucktail with a strip of bait unless it has a circle hook. If you find a state with such a law, please post.

Appears you're using a more aggressive jigging approach than typical.

It was such a sharp drop down the ledge I was snapping the jig and then letting it fall deeper. I was also opening the bail frequently to stay down, especially on spot lock.
