Lars, I can't believe I've never come across your channel until now. I enjoy learning about bushcraft/ survival and prepping. And I spent a semester in St. Petersburg back in 2003. I never got a chance to venture outside the city, so it's so great that you can show us the real Russia. So many people told the that Moscow and St. Petersburg aren't Russia. Not Родина. Have you ever thought about getting a Харьковчанка !?!? Haha how cool would that be! Well, I'm glad I came across your channel man, take care.
@SurvivalRussia4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much :) Yes, SPB and Moscow are not really considered "Real Russia" by many. I remember once in the shuttle bus at the airport, a voice in the speakers said "Welcome to Moscow" and I mumbled to myself in Russian, "Moscow is not Russia". People smiled in agreement.

Enjoy your freedom Lars. Here in Melbourne, we are in stage three lockdown, no camping etc, local travel restrictions, mandatory masks on Wednesday. Even normally, camp fires are limited to 1m square, so no Siberian log fires. Not allowed to cut saplings, cut dead standing streets drive off named tracks, use unregistered vehicles in forests to name a few. I grew up on 30 acres, so I have cut down trees, had big fires etc. I was pretty lucky. I will do my best to help my daughter's experience as much as they can.

Cool to see, these simple but useful inventions or constructions from native people are most often great for inspiration, (also Inuit kayaks eg.) if not for real use, for all people, developed so far back in time, and still so useful. Also cool new intro, I like that. 2nd time also: if you had not ended up as an electrician in Russia, teaching survival and camping related stuff on KZbin, you would have been a great teacher, I am sure, you have a clam, including, simple, straight forward and "down to earth" way of just showing and telling stuff, just for mentioning it, for once. In making of the rings I always cut the saplings and soaked them overnight (tied together) but we used what was in nature. We used a “twine” we made from braiding saplings together and used that to hang our cooking pots. We found that the “cord” wasn’t affected by the fire if the fire was kept at a reasonable size. But wire looks to be a lot quicker. We camped like nomads and everything we had was tied down on a motorcycle. So we had to think compact but good. Your videos remind me of my own outdoor adventures many years ago. I think they’re great!

From 2:29 on I am honestly getting a bit motion sick from the weird automatic zoom and after that the camera pan. Awesome idea. In the old days they used a hanging device that looks like a saw pointing downwards, so that the "teeth" engage with the pot in order to adjust the height, which means adjusting the temperature. So the food can be hung high or low or in between while cooking. Simple and effective. Here it could be done by using a stick with multiple branches, or by adjusting the wire length. Very awesome!!
