I went to 5 shops, tried about 10 dresses in total. Went back and bought the dress I tried on the 1st shop. I had to be sure, it's a lot of money you cannot regret it. And I am a bit undecisive :) So I get it. But 120 dresses is crazy. They just do not mean it, they go there just to have fan, not going to buy a dress at all, not that early. And I think it is very disrespectful to the boutiques. It is not a game, they are trying to make a living.

For some people yes and some people no. My sister had her “this is my dress” moment in the very first dress she tried on in the very first store we went to. I, on the other hand, am a very indecisive person and would probably need days to decide on a dress (if I ever get engaged).

I think it is because, to many people, that dress symbolizes more than just getting married. For people like myself, it is something they have been fantasizing about since they were little. When other girls were getting teen magazines I got my mother to get me brides, lol I loved drawing dresses and learning about sleeve styles and fashion terms etc. But if I were ever fortunate to meet the right guy and had the budget, there is no way I would go to a bridal store because I know my style is not there. I hate strapless, and I have my own vision that I have never seen on any of these shows. I also have simple tastes so I don't think it would be hard to make my dress for someone who knows how to sew. I am so fortunate that I saw a dress in a Bride's magazine, cut out the page, and carried it in my wallet for two years. Fearing it would be discontinued before I got engaged I mailed the company in New York to see where I might be able to acquire it here in the Pacific Northwest. As luck would have it there was a place in my hometown that could order it for me. I sent them the 10% down that they required and when it came in my size I went to try it on and picked it up. It was a bit long, but I didn't want it altered so figured I'd get a hoop to wear under it. That's exactly what happened four years later AFTER I was engaged four times, lived in a foreign country for a year, and finally had my father walk me down the aisle. That was 39 years ago the Spring equinox and I still love my wedding dress, vail, and husband!
