Fergie and her management felt that the song did not fit the theme of her album and decided not to record it. However, her management felt that the song was too strong to let go, so they decided to shop the song around to different record labels. Eventually, the song was sold to Bad Boy Records, where it was handed to Jordan McCoy. McCoy's team felt they had a huge hit on their hands and quickly recorded the song, assuring Fergie and her management that they were going to release it as a single.

However, according to McCoy, after Fergie heard their finished version, she had a change of heart and recorded the song as well. Without the knowledge of Bad Boy Records, Fergie went ahead and tagged it on to her album at the last minute. Jordan and her team were upset by Fergie's decision, scrapped the entire project and considered suing Fergie. However, because Fergie co-wrote the song, she had partial ownership and they could not sue her.

The story is Fergie co-wrote the song and and it was for the Fergie's album but she decided that it doesn't fit to her album theme. So the song ended up with Jordan but after hearing Jordan version, Fergie realized how good it is and recorded her own version secretly. But the Jordan record label couldn't win over the song becos Fergie co-wrote it.

wow I am SOOO glad Fergie released this first. Although Jordan could relate to this more, you can't tell cuz she sings this with no feeling at all. Fergie actually puts emotion behind her words AND she can sing better than Jordan.

I'm glad Fergie recorded this... Hardly no-one knows who the Jordan kid is, and since Fergie recorded it, the whole world got to her this fantastic song! Besides Jordan sounds whiny, no-one wouldve likeed it, Ferg added more maturity

it sucks how fergie gave her this song, and then took it back. and this was supposed to be jordan's like new single. her label and team were really upset when fergie took the song back. ugh jordan could've really done well with this song as a single and out in the public! lol but its okay. shes signed with BAD BOY! =]

Fergie co-wrote it, didnt like it so she sold it 2 bad boy records. jordan recorded it and fergie liked it after hearing the finalized verison so she recorded it w/o telling bad boy records, at the last minute she recorded it and added it to her album. bad boy records thought about sueing, but couldnt bcuz she co-wrote it.

fergie is better and did NOT co wrote it.. she wrote this song waaayyyy back then before she was on the black eyed peas!! and yes, she almost didnt put this song in the album cuz she forget about it cuz its so long ago, but her manager said "if you dont put this on your album, youre crazy!!" so she listen to it and she thought that this really push a button n her heart and everyone can relate to this song cuz its not about spelling like fergalicious or glamorous.. she said it on the interview
