Has anyone ever metal detected the undisturbed areas near there? Those results make wonder how much was in the bad looking topsoil part you described, how close to the surface was it originally? It being a glacial deposit is definitely an interesting situation. Where i live lost most topsoil last time glacial activity went through, and we ended up with Massachusetts, so you got a much better deal.

Well hello Watching from Thames New Zealand we had the deepest gold mine in the southern atmosphere here in the 19th century it went 1000 ft deep an their was another mine that had produced 36 oz of gold per ton of ore per that mine was call The Moanataiari Mine cheers

Just one thought on suggestions made by those of us watching. I am sure they can get annoying, especially when u see the same ones over and over, but i would interject that some of us are more interested in learning WHY our suggestions wont work, than seeing them put to work. I realize that we may not have any ideas that havent been tried, but we DONT do this for a living, and we are obviously interested. NOTE! This starement doesnt apply to the fools who think they can TELL others how to do their jobs. Some people were never taught that their ideas arent as novel as their mothers told them they were. Love the show. It just makes me jealous. We dont have much colour down here in east Texas!😅

A great heads up for all the armchair quarterbacks... miners, about how you're only showing a portion. Won't stop them though, it's nigh-pathological to share opinions, but I certainly appreciated it. It was funny about the radio call for him to take care of the tailings, as I'd been wondering at the previous shot (which was excellent) that showed them building towards the roller, and I was curious as to how often that needed to be cleared. Based on what you said, not enough for a three person crew, but only just. I never thought about glacial moraine carrying gold with it, we generally only think about the larger debris being displaced by the slow crawl that is a glacier's movement. It's interesting, but makes sense, as to how scattered those deposits would be, instead of concentrated pockets. I guess that's largely why the high bank placer operations make sense for collecting it. Always fascinating watching your videos, and I find it awesome that I learn something new with almost every one of them, even though I grew up in "Gold Country" by Sutter's Mill and my stepdad even owning James Marshal's original claim (where he taught me how to pan).

That tromel is doing it's job. Those coarse tailings are squeaky clean. His boxes are level and the dry mats showed a good exchange rate. That man is catching all of the gold that can be had.

I live near the Liberty Gold Prospects in Central Wa. State. In the later years of the claim after the Prospectors left a bigger mining company came in they used a bulldozer to clear off the over burden then when they got down to Bedrock they sluiced everything and then got out the brooms and dustpans and swept off the surface of the bedrock and sluiced/panned the dirt they had swept. Great Job Dan, I'm headed off to the "mining channel" to check them out.

Hi Dan! Love your videos. Question about this placer mining operation: How often, if at all, does Tyler check his tailings for uncaptured gold? Does he ever find significant gold in the tailings?

Hey Mike, Tyler here. I usually check them once a day. The meterial changes very often. With this current site the gold is larger so it is extremely hard to loose it. On previous sites I have mined where the gold was smaller find flour gold I would find some gold in the tailings since it is very hard to catch but nothing to worry about that would break my wallet.
