I like it except it's nearly impossible to not be at war after you start, since having your fleets in the same ocean as another nation will slowly piss them off. For example, American campaign, I was at war with the Russians. Damn reds. Japan was already at war with them, and relations were good, so we naturally became allies. A year later, Japan signs peace, and slowly hates the US more and more for being in their waters. Which I have to do to blockade the Russians. Eventually they also declare war on me, since I can't seem to end the war with Russia even with a 3x victory point advantage, and a Russian navy with a third the ships it had before the war. Eventually Germany hates us too, since I've parked a fleet on the north most Russian ports. Also the Austro-Hungarians hate us too, since I also have a fleet in the black sea. And the italians. Now everyone hates us, and it will never end. It snowballs. My economy falls behind the only countries not at war. Not a fantastic system, unless I'm just doing it wrong.

Like, frfr they were the most advanced and powerful battleships. And Im Scottish, so you'd expect me to be biased to the British ships. Iowa had really good radar, excellent AA, accurate guns and corresponding firing solution finders.

As a lover of the Warspite and the looks of the Bismark I can only agree. The Iowa class is a perfect design as they are fast moving, hard hitting and versatile. A well balanced ship. It's only weakness is the torpedo defence as it has to fit through the Panama canal. An Iowa with improved torpedo defence would be the perfect ship. Adding the extra turret for a Montana class battleship would only offer diminishing returns. The Iowas proved they were more than capable of destroying enemy positions, flatten mountains and even deleting a small island. That was before the nuke shells. And tomahawks.

Part of the challenge in Naval warfare was finding the enemy fleet to engage them and then if/when you’re in a battle you have to try to gauge the enemy fleet strength present and whether you should press an attack or withdraw. It’s made easier here by having every nation fleet visible and showing an exact list of ships when you fight them. Maybe there’s a gameplay thing I’m missing like hiding enemy fleets and numbers would make playing too hard. But Imagine walking into a battle against a skirmishing group of CLs and DDs and suddenly a battleship squadron that wasn’t listed but was in the area waiting for you to take the bait appears. Admittedly wouldn’t help much considering the AI still needs work but I thought it would be interesting

For the Focus Bug, it happened to me too (on submarine experiments) I was able to free it by making sure all the focuses are selected, and then without unselecting them, just click on 3 new focuses. It should grab it out of that tech line and make it available again!

I also give my ships extremely thick superstructures because I prioritize speed; that way, I can speed-tank and get close, thus saving weight on the guns. Engine is more useful than guns, strategically. I love engine and boiler. Anything that doesn't make the shop go faster is a tech ology that I'll u lock when I unlock it.

Another way to help make the AI more challenging would be for their ships to automatically start at the "average" level for crew training rather than "cadet." This would make them more effective in every way without having to completely overhaul the AI's ship design sub-system.

I just got a reply from Admiral Pierce, sir. He is happy with the design of the new class of Heavy Cruiser. Pierce intends to utilize them in convoy interception and medium sized fleet engagements, where they will be escorted by Light Cruisers and Destroyers. All he will need is your formal approval of this strategy, sir.

My main issues lately is I keep running into "super-fleets" with my Battle Groups and engine efficiency in cruiser types. I'm often outnumbered 7:1 or worse. Considering my Battle Groups are usually 12 ships (4 BB and 8 CA) it gets a bit lively. When I win a battle it will often end the war with that faction. I can get huge engine efficiency in anything BUT a cruiser hull. The best I can get in them is around 70%, but often it's only around 50%. Currently I'm in 1910 and I have Oil fired boilers. I've been at war with Japan for about 4 years now. They have 0 ships and aren't building any and I have all of their ports blockaded, but we're still at war somehow.

You can actually re-prioritize the bugged one. I you already have 3 prioritizations(including the bugged one) and try to prioritize a fourth thing the game will instead take the oldest prioritization and move it to the new one.

I got my research locked on the sub experiments you just need to select 3 other things in the tree as if you try to select four it will cancel the first and pick the fourth instead, if it was already the 3rd that you picked you might need to click on 6 items one after another though

31:40 ish, it looks like for the negotiations you could get the chinese ships as well, but it is a little bit... odd(?) that for peace suggestion and the peace notification its separate while the negotiation is bunched up, I mean it makes sense but it feels weird Also my man got robbed, only 71M for kicking 2 nations's asses, what did the russians put all of the money while the chinese tossed a coin in your face, said:"ah yes, lemme give you ONE million for the trouble of being at war"? your mines were the one who got our ships handed to us, riceman! you should be paying double for that!

The main way I keep the game interesting, is that I change the ai and do torpedobeats in a BC. Its great fun and really gets the blood pumping. 16:20 yea thats the same for my Japanese campaign. I'm at war with everyone except Russia and Austro-Hungary.

I made my 1st Reply/Comment about 6 Months after I first watched your UA:D Videos. So, I am on my 2nd Year of Commenting/Replying to your KZbin UA:D Videos. = = = = = I generally have the same issue with overwhelming the AI Opponents with the Video Game GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II: DREAD LORDS. Yea...I know the GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS is a totally different Game System from ULTIMATE ADMIRAL: DREADNOUGHTS; but, with GC2:DL, I am able to create Warship Designs that the Game System aren't able to create: Weaponized Cargo Hull Spaceships. In GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II: DREAD LORDS, I can wreak havoc on AI Trade Ships and Scouts and Flag Ships and Troop Transports and Colony Ships with my Weaponized Cargo Hull Spaceships.; that is, until the AI Opponent can create a Weaponized Spaceship that can catch my Weaponized Cargo Hull Spaceships. By that time, I am able to create more Standardized Fighting Spaceships that can be effective en masse, usually; but, not always. The only time that GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II: DREAD LORDS is challenging is when I play in Tiny, or Small, Galaxies with 9 Opponents. The Spacecraft Technologies between the Races in GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II: DREAD LORDS can be very drastically different; while, the Warship Technologies between Nations in ULTIMATE ADMIRAL: DREADNOUGHTS tend to be very similar. In GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II: DREAD LORDS, some AI Opponents do have Spaceship Technologies that can easily overpower me; but, due to Game System AI Logic based on Game Level Settings (I play on "Normal") they usually aren't Warring me; or, are too far away to war me (I usually play with "Huge" Galaxies). In Tiny, and Small, Galaxies, those Overpowering Races make Gameplay very difficult; and, frustrating. The problem with ULTIMATE ADMIRAL: DREADNOUGHTS Game System AI Opponents is that they don't know how to built Good Warship Designs; and, they don't know how to use the Warship Designs effectively as a Fleet Unit. Torpedo Warfare is the only trick that the ULTIMATE ADMIRAL: DREADNOUGHTS Game System AI Opponents know. One way that you can make the Game Experience more challenging is not to increase the Rate Of Fire of your Warship Guns. Another way is not to utilize Maximum Technologies in Armor and in Protection and in Weaponry and Sensors. ¿How can you choose a Mark II 5-Inch Gun when you have a Mark III+ 5-Inch Gun Technology available? -- You can't. Don't choose the Maximum Size Torpedo that is available; instead, choose the Minimum Size Torpedo. @Stealth17 to get that priority back, press the greyed out priority on the box which contains your priorities. You will regain your "swallowed" priorities back. BrotherMunro got that in his Japanese campaign.

This is just an idea that's been floating in my head. How about you make a cruiser and utilize several main caliber guns like 4,5 and 6 inch guns. I think that this will be new and unique and also has the benefit of being able to target multiple destroryers. I say it wouldn't be that bad of an idea.

I don't think that's possible. Afaik main guns can only fire at one target at a time, no matter how many different calibers you use. And using different calibers in fact makes your ship worse as it lowers the accuracy of the guns

This is a bad idea, there's a reason that ore-dreadnoughts became a thing of the past. Multi-caliber main batteries make fire control and spotting the fall of your shot a nightmare, reducing accuracy.

Enemy is way too easy to win. Just had a fight in 1904. Started the game in 1890. Had 4BB 1 CL and 1TB. Enemy had 122 ships. They lost 115 and I lost my CL and TB. My 4 BB were all green at the end.

You can reclaim the third priority by simply assigning a 4th point and it will reuse your blocked third.

Balanced is better for turning at speed. Unbalanced loses speed turning but you turn faster. I rather take the sharper turn from unbalanced to maximize dodge chance against torpedoes.

Please no w/ the 18" guns. We tried those already remember (the big guns campaign)? And for all the destruction they were supposed to cause, they were mostly ineffective because they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Plus their reload could be measured in decades, not seconds. So yeah...no. Am loving this campaign so far though. Keep it up.

It’s mainly due to low tech levels, at high levels they’re deadly, it’s mainly luck on weather you get that though the reload is a bit of an issue, which is why I personally prefer 15 inch, but 20 inch is fine with maximum reload
