To answer your question, I'm a parent of a kid who loves trains, so we bounce around between MRSR, NRM, GNCRY (Skykomish), Kitsap Live Steamers, Chehalis, Link Light Rail, and just "chasing" BNSF freights near Monroe. But I gotta say, you amazing people at MRSR have such a phenomenal commitment to growth and success! Scientists can probably calibrate a laser with how sharply you're dialed into making your little operation giant and sustainable. As always, keep up the amazing work and we appreciate your unwavering commitment to excellence!

Many, many thanks, Pete, for the consistent support and encouragement! Sustainability is the key, if the business isn't solid, the preservation can't happen.

Hi! North Carolina-based Railfan here! Really glad to see these cars headed off to a new home! Hoping y’all get many good years out of these cars!

Answering Rowdy's question - Class 1 engineer by trade, parent to an amazing kiddo, and a foamer at heart. Memories of working with Bundy come to mind, or all the stories I hear about him... regardless though. I was a passenger of the MRSR as a kid, and i was glad to take my son on his 5th birthday for his first ride last year. Fully plan on bringing the family with, or going to special events in the future!

To answer the question, I’m a railfan but a railfan who understands the work that goes into keeping the trains running, restoring equipment or infrastructure, and overall keeping the lights on. That is why whenever I visit an operation or museum, I will always pay it forward for them. Pay for admission and to ride the trains if they have train rides, buy a few souvenirs from the operation, contribute to a donation box if they have it. I know every little bit helps in the long run.

Man I hate yall weren't able to see the layout running! I'm with the club that runs that layout, we operate mostly every other weekend, though exceptions are made for special events. It's too bad, because we will be taking it down on October 12th.

Bust my buffers . . . . So glad you got the wash basins, when I was there years ago you could use them. Sitting outside my houses back door is one of the urnals from the Astoria station. my dad pissed in before he went to WWII. Some day someone will thank me!

I am one of the Rail Operations volunteers at the NC Transportation Museum and did a LOT of the maintenance work on your new cars. I am sure that Lane took very good care of you. You might be interested that your new cars had a brief appearance in the George Clooney movie 'Leatherheads' which was partially filmed at the museum. You will be able to spot them if you take a look at the movie.

What were the original owners of these cars? I know several railroads operated fleets of these Osgood Bradley round roof coaches - The Reading, Jersey Central and Southern Pacific come to mind. I know there lots of the CNJ coaches still sround because of the absolutely massive roster of commuter coaches that had.

@@BenBensonStudios Thanks for the heads up. I know the Reading and the CNJ shared these designs during the CNJ's time in Reading receivership, so i wasn't entirely sure, going off the car numbers alone. I had a feeling it was one of the two.

While yes, most of us probably are rail fans, we can also offer word of mouth endorsements to families and friends who will be visiting the areas where these tourist operations are, including the MRSR. Word of mouth goes along way.
@haxorouse32654 ай бұрын
I'm a railfan, but I'm a railfan who always buys tickets to do whatever the railroad or museum will let me buy tickets to do, ride the train, shop tours, special trains, stuff like that, unfortunately I live on the east coast and maybe find myself in Seattle every other year or so, so I'll get out there eventually, but all this to say, there are railfans who still buy the tickets, we aren't all freeloaders just taking pictures XD
@mtrainierrail4 ай бұрын
We're not knocking railfans by any means, we're sort of part of that crowd ourselves. When we say "railfans and photos don't pay the bills" - it's a reminder for us to stay focused, families, kiddos, grandparents, and events keep us in business, far more than the weeks of debate we'll have about the cars paint schemes. We've also gotta fight our own foamy tendencies :)
