Ha! Jose loves the physical work. Believe me, I take good care of him. Besides, he’s 15 years younger than me! I do 95% of my firewood work alone, so that 5% of the time he helps me with wood I appreciate the break.

Thanks Obie. Clifford is a Woodyard dog for sure. I do 95% of my woodyard work alone. I have Jose help me 2 days a week with my landscape maintenance business. Occasionally we get done early and he has an hour or two when I have him help with the wood. It’s a great break for me!

The 22-28 is a nice machine. We also just build a set of grizzly bars for our conveyor . They help quite a bit . The only issue I’m having now is when using the log lift bags the wood does not fall in . The grizz bars shoots it in & it makes my bags kind of fill up leaning somewhat . Now im trying to figure out how to add a bit of a backstop to slow the wood down coming off the grizz bars .
@oldguyfirewood
@oldguyfirewood 8 ай бұрын
I never thought about the potential problems with the bags. IBC totes are almost all full and I was planning on going to the log lift bags that I have. I’ll have to figure something out. Let me know if you find a solution.
@1squirreldog
@1squirreldog 8 ай бұрын
I will let you know if we find a fix. I was just thinking of some sort of hanging rubber the wood hits when coming off the bars , just need to figure out how that will mount . The bags still work they just don’t stand up quite as nice as straight off the conveyor . Personally I like the bags better than totes normally because most of out totes are cut out so the wood falls out unless your there stacking it . The bags do not need that attention when filling & are a full 1/3 cord. For us a bag stand is a must have . We built one to save the $ .
@1squirreldog
@1squirreldog 8 ай бұрын
We came up with a fix that’s working ok . We took a heavy piece of plastic & screwed it to a 2x4 then clamped the 2x4 down on top of the bag holder and the plastic hangs down into the bag about 29 inches so the wood hits the hanging plastic to slow it down as it comes off the conveyor . I think a rubber mat would work better and we may do that at some point but this works ok . We have been removing the plastic once the bag gets filled up about 1/2 way or so .

@@oldguyfirewood I’ve plugged my 12-22 up several times, to the point I had to cut the wood out or pull it back with a chain. They love the straight wood, no issues there. I can just see the added power of the 22-28 really shining when you find a knott or twisted piece.
@oldguyfirewood
@oldguyfirewood 8 ай бұрын
I'm surprised the 12-22 will plug up. The 22-28 will just push it through sideways... not good for scrap. I am trying to concentrate on straight, clear rounds. That is the most efficient use of the box wedge for sure. - Dick
