Eastonmade Box Wedge and BIG Rounds. Completing final mods to grizzly bars.

In this video I complete the final modification to the grizzly bars, and then salt some BIG rounds with the Eastonmade 22-28 box wedge.

It’s a great splitter Hayes. There’s a slight learning curve to using the box wedge but once you learn it you will produce a LOT of firewood in a short period with minimal physical effort.

Glad to see that you sre really enjoying the 22-28 box wedge. Trying ti decide between this, a vertical or small processor. At 72 its working on my body, but, i really enjoy being in the woodyard!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

Hi David. If you can get straight, under 14” poles the processor is the answer. The box wedge wins out for high volume production, and the vertical splitter is best for precise clean, controlled splits. It really depends on your situation.

At about 8:30 the round stands up on the return stroke. I have noticed that with my box wedge, mostly when the round is 14 inches or less. There doesn’t seem to be enough inertia to keep the round flat with the carriage and it stands it up.

Hi Brent. Thanks for watching. That happens occasionally, but I only see it with large heavy rounds. As the round pulls back and falls down off the top of the wedge, the weight of the round causes it to roll over towards the push plate. Hope you’re doing well my friend.
