Big! Iran 'Captures' Ship In Persian Gulf; Tanker With Over 1.5 Million Litres Of Fuel Seized

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has confiscated an oil tanker. Tehran said the tanker was carrying a huge amount of smuggled fuel in the Persian Gulf waters. All 12 crew members, including Indian and Sri Lankan nationals, have been arrested. The second naval zone of the IRGC said in a statement that the vessel was carrying over 1.5 million liters of smuggled fuel.

The carrying capacity of an oil tanker is not measured in liters. A tanker carrying 1.5 million liters of oil would be a tiny tanker. Even the smallest tanker would carry about 70,000 barrels which would be the equivalent of about 11 million liters.
