Wow I didn't know you could drive to Mauna Kea now. When I was stationed there in the late 80s/90s you needed a 4 wheel drive to get there. It was something everyone had back then.
@Radek70013 жыл бұрын
Four-wheel drive is now required too. Information is posted. You can drive an ordinary car but at your own risk. If something happens, the cost of help is very high. Often the brakes burn when going down. The views are unforgettable for a long time, you probably know it if you've been there

Thanks for sharing! also very good index you did to jump into your video...however you missed South Point southernmost point of the Big Island of Hawaii and of the 50 United States...maybe next time like you said 3 days is too short to visit Big Island. Which camera did you use to film?
@Radek70014 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. If I visit this island again someday I will definitely see other interesting places. I realize that there is much more to see. I only had two weeks for three islands so on each of them I tried to choose what I will not see on another. I recorded with the Panasonic Lumix GH5 camera

Maybe re-check the elevation of Mauna Kea. Nice representation of my island

Wikipedia gives exactly 4207.3 m. above sea level (13.803 ft.). Maybe there are sources that seys otherwise, but this movie is not about proving which version is correct. If you feel up to it, you should make a movie in which you argue that you are right. I would love to watch it. Here is link: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauna_Kea Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 🎄

Radek7001 Wow... so sensitive. I thought videographers strive for accuracy but I really don’t care - just trying to help. I’ve hiked to the summit from the Visitor’s Center. BTW it’s 13,796 ft. (4,205 m)
@Radek70013 жыл бұрын
@@edsmith5848Thank you for your help. Of course I appreciate accuracy and I have seen the 4205 m. version in the sources but this is not the only version. I usually rely on Wikipedia, and this time too. I have to accept something as appropriate. Earlier one of the viewers also accused me that Hawaii is not US state and sent me a link to a video about it. I also wrote to him that I rely on Wikipedia and that was how I was taught at school. If I wrote 4205 m, there would be a whole crowd of those who would say that Wikipedia says otherwise
@edsmith58483 жыл бұрын
Radek7001 I understand that it’s a matter of 2 meters so not exactly life-or-death difference. Therefore, I’ll end by providing a link to U.S. Geological Society: www.usgs.gov/faqs/how-big-are-hawaiian-volcanoes Again, a very well-made video. Continued good fortune in your travels.
@Radek70013 жыл бұрын
@@edsmith5848 Ok, I promise I will check it in the source you provided. I am always open for knowledge. Anyway, I have to accept Wikipedia as the source of my knowledge because it is impossible to analyze everything so thoroughly with each movie that I make, especially when editing takes so long and lot of materials are waiting for its turn. I'm glad you liked the movie. Maybe one day I will visit this beautiful place again. Thanks for watching

In every video of the big island, I never see any crowds and very few people. Is this really the case or is this just selective video editing?
@Radek70013 жыл бұрын
Indeed, there weren't many people when I was there, the same as in Kauai (sometimes alone on the beach) but it was before the holiday season and Big Island is the largest. There was much more in Oahu, but Oahu is the most popular island
