I started collecting knives around 2 years ago after I purchased a couple of folding knives to have around in my SUV as practical tool and around the house. Then I started to get introduced to the world of knifes folding and fixed, and was surprised to see that there is such a huge following by enthusiasts and avid knife collectors. As I got more knowledge, and got more attracted to get more knives all of a sudden I found my self some months later having close to 20 knives, and now actually 80+, and the collection keeps on growing. I also noticed that my taste started to change from more tactical to EDC style and then more stylish, gentleman type of knife up to traditional slip joint or lock backs from GEC or Case among others. I even started to register all the knives inventory i have into an excel spreadsheet with the specs, make and model of the knife plus how much I paid for it either from buying it new or second hand from ebay, which is also useful to track up how much I have spent in total in the collection. I also have the same storage drawer set displayed in this video which is a good fit for this type of application for knife storage (as long they are not to bulky) since the drawers are not too deep themselves. I am actually about to upgrade to a Gerstner Drawer Chest (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076H7WGWG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A47JLXWXVLQCW&psc=1) which is a more costly storage option but definitely more appropriate if you want a hold a large knife collection plus place other smaller EDC items such as flashlights, multitools, watches, pens, etc.

The Remington trapper was made by Camillus. The circle tang stamp (as shown) is what they used and - more tellingly- it's one of the pinless faux-stag Delrin models. Camillus's toolkit for the Delrin covers was very sophisticated, proven by these covers routinely still holding strong, very little warping and such. Also they managed to actually make the faux- stag and bone *not* look awful, something which others (e.g. Kabar) often struggled with. Those Camillus Remingtons from like the 60s, 70s, 80s are nowadays IMO totally worth what one would pay for them now.
@AlbertoVO54 жыл бұрын
MJFallout thanks for this detail. I have a single blade Camillus knife that's very similar with the Delrin scales. From about '68 or thereabouts. Weighty and built like a tank - zero warp. A testament to the bygone days of American manufacturing. Even after 50 years it closes with a solid snap. I love this knife.

My favorite knife is my benchmade mini grip 556-1! It has a fun story behind it. I went into academy to look at their selection. They have a limited number of knives but I had already done my research and I knew they had a few nice knives. As I approached the case I saw a 556 gen 1. I noticed it was priced at $89.99. A fair price. I proceeded to check out a few more knives but I knew I was going to pull the trigger on the 556. After looking at a few knives I had the clerk take the 556 mini grip out of the case and walk it up front so I could check out. We got to the register and she passed the knife off to the girl that was going to check me out. She rang up the knife and told me the price was $198. I was surprised and politely notified her that in the case, the knife was advertised at $89.99. She hesitated but then (after getting confirmation from the girl who initially showed me the knife) changed the price to $89.99. I honestly didn’t think anything of it. I thought they just got the price wrong... until I got home. I sat down on the couch when I got home to inspect my new baby! I was so excited but I was much more excited when I noticed why the knife rang up at $198! They had accidentally given me a 556-1 with the 20CV blade steel and G-10 scales! I couldn’t believe it! I got a $190 knife for $90 dollars! That makes the benchmade mini griptilian 556 (-1) my favorite knife to date! A close second is my benchmade 940 Osborne because it’s just a sexy knife!

Great video! Your BM 940 or the Spyderco Drunken are the most interesting to me. My first knife is the only Swiss Army knife that I own. My dad gave it to me when I was in 6th grade. I've always traveled with that knife, it's so versatile. I love my ZT 0609. I bought a Kershaw Volt eons ago and loved the RJ Martin lines. I could not afford a custom, so when this came out I bought one as soon as I could.

@555Gear5 жыл бұрын
Good stuff, I need someone to explain to me what's going on with Striders latest knives. Who's making 'em these days?
@morimo115 жыл бұрын
Mick and Duane each have their own shops, each producing their knives independently. Mick is making full customs and small batches of semi customs. Duane is only producing full customs. Secondary market is a bit wonky lately, especially since the production side of Strider Knives is gone. Retailers are selling out really quickly, and they are selling for above retail on the secondary. They might be a little big for you based on your collection, but maybe give an SnG a try.

Did you find a way to get your smalll sebenza cf not to rattle with the blue lanyard hole?
@danredman68235 жыл бұрын
Reid Miller find some matching blue thread and wrap it around one of ends of the lanyard holder and tie it off. There is a little gap between the scale and the lanyard holder which causes the rattling noise. Keeps it from rattling and can’t tell it’s there.
