My 9 month old son got a hernia when he slipped one foot into the pool and took one to the crotch. The night before his surgery, I pleaded to the powers to be to guide the surgeons and protect my boy. The next morning we noticed he looked perfect. We saw his pediatrician and he said he never saw anything like it. He was healed somehow. Glad everything is ok for you too.

Louis, if you need emergency surgery in the UK they get you in. You don't wait weeks, they do emergency ops without a wait. It's only a wait if it's either not essential, so a long wait, or urgent but not life threatening, then it's sometimes a wait, but a shorter wait. I've had family who have had appendicitis and had that operated on the same day. Same as a gall bladder surgery that needed removing, which they did the next day. Glad you got it sorted quickly

I think you’re possibly naive to the issue. While the situation he described is not life threatening, it’s a bit of playing Russian roulette to sit and wait for a surgical date so far out in the future. If the hernia becomes strangulated that is an emergency which would get him into theatre immediately, but you never want to manage an emergency, you want to prevent an emergency. Complications from a strangulated hernia can be permanently life altering.

@@kacorri This. My dad's uncle died of a strangulated hernia, it's super serious. The NHS is a mess and they wouldn't have done an emergency surgery until it was at that emergency point (but by then it could be too late), which is insane.

I had an epigastric hernia repair and the pain was awful as my stitches were exactly where you bend , so hard to get up out of bed and no lifting for weeks and I was a toddler teacher .. Just listened to your dr as I have scar tissue attached to my abdominal wall and when I move to twist the wrong way it’s so painful .. keep on healing

Wow, what a crazy time! Thankful you're ok. Someone told me for every hour you're under anaesthesia it will take that many months to fully recover, mainly fatigue. I found that after a recent operation which was 3 hours.

My husband and I flew from Canada to Mexico last month so he could have surgery on his sinuses because there’s a 2 year wait here in Canada for this surgery. We had to pay for it but totally worth it.

I’ve been waiting for adjudication on a visa extension for 28 months now. We’re submitting documents to reapply on Thursday, even though it may mess up my PR application. It’s more frustrating than anyone can imagine!

I just had this exact same procedure done back in January. Both sides. Mine was alot bigger on the right. It literally looked like a softball stuffed down the front of my pants. To the point clothes wouldn't fit right. It's a quick recovery time tho. I feel ya, Louis! Glad you're better.

In the 70s we had a woman's creativity group that met weekly and each week a different woman would come up with the art or craft for that meeting. I know if we did it now it would be mixed couples. Although I highly recommend both separate women's and men's groups for deep dives and rituals. Love you dear beautiful family. So inspirational ❤🎉

Glad you're on the mend, Louis! We went through the 5-year UK spouse visa route too - successfully first time, thank goodness. I don't think people realise how expensive, perilous and complicated the whole process is for a UK citizen to bring their spouse here to live - that's even if you meet the ever-increasing income requirements that are making it literally impossible for some families to be together., even those with children. It feels like a topic, from a personal level, that would really fit your channel. I'd love to see you explore it.

Glad you got your surgery. Could you have worn a support garment while you were waiting? I know my grandfather had a hernia and he was waiting for his surgery and his Dr. made him wear a truss (support garment) around his hernia so it couldn't get worse and it helped him with the pain. Hopefully you won't ever need that kind of surgery again. Take it easy and prayers for a quick healing.

I had hernia during both my pregnancies. The pain is horrible. You look healthy, you are totally fine when sitting, or laying down but standing or walking is more than awful! And I immigrated to the US. Doing immigration or applying for a visa legally is an extremely expensive, extremely complicated and very humiliating process. I feel for both of you! I really do!

My kidney transplant is struggling a bit currently and we may miss our holiday, first holiday since 2019! We’re desperate to go on holiday but got to have a biopsy tomorrow and then some treatment before we go then more treatments when we get back if we go! Then I also have a hernia surgery soon when kidney settles! I’m just a bit overwhelmed! 😔

I'm so sorry for everything you have been experiencing as troubles, both racist (migration) policies and health issues. It definitely sounds like a lot to take on. Remember is OK to not be OK for a while. Mantaining an "always happy" attitude can be exhausting and in the end feeds a lot of resentment. Lots of love for your family! I've had a few hernia operations in the last few years. You have to watch out carrying things from now on. I think I have another one and I'm trying to ignore it as it isn't a big one. I hadn't had an operation in my life either before. It did take a while to recover. Glad everything is OK now. You were lucky when Oso jumped you.

I would love to hear more about your Bulgaria medical experience. I live in the UK and I am worried about getting medical care with all the problems with the NHS right now, but private healthcare is so expensive here. Is it something you'd do again (if you had to have more treatments)? Would you share the cost comparison? The standard of care comparison?

Hey! Raya here but just wanted to say Louis loved his experience. He stayed in the hospital for 3 days (while here they would have sent him home same day) and the cost was 1/5th of the price of private. Also he’s been messaging the doctor on WhatsApp and sending photos of scars etc for continued care. He said he would definitely do it again if necessary
