While we can argue about where to weigh bass on the gill plates, or mouth. You shouldn’t use the corner of the mouth at all for those bass above 4 lb. Bottom jaw below the point, or the top gill plate. Secondly, at all costs you shouldn’t set a fish down on anything if possible. It takes away their slime coat. While it might not kill them, it does hurt them. Regardless, sweet catches and tight lines!

You don’t eat any bass above 3-4 pounds. It’s really just a thing bass fisherman don’t do, we don’t eat bass at all. But you should especially never eat a bass over 3-4 because they aren’t even good anyways at that point because the meat is mushy.

Sept. 4, 2018----Thanks for the video, but was curious on your catching those shiners. After tossing in the dry dog food and seeing the shiners hitting it, why not use a casting net? This way you'd have more than one shiner ready to use.

See about getting a wide gape hook the circle hooks are ok but the (KAHLE HOOKS) is what u need , when u use a circle hook it takes a lot longer to set up on a fish a lot of smaller fish will get gut hooked I not a bass master like Scott Martian but I been doing this in south Fl shiner fish for 30 years.

You should mark each fish differently and keep a log. Ie mark 3rd and 6th with lbs and date caught. That way you could see how each 1 grows over the yrs.

If your wanting to do some walking and fishing, I would get on Google maps and just look for ponds in neighborhoods to fish. Even if it's posted the police have to give you a warning the first time for trespassing. The second time they can arrest you. But I would just look for ponds that aren't posted as NO TRESPASSING, lol.

Thanks so much! If you are on a public lake and want to bait up bream, shiners, shad or any kind of bait fish, buy some hog feed, throw it out near the edge of the lake where you think would be a good shallower spot for baitfish to hangout. The hog feed sinks, after a few days of doing this the fish will start to hang around that area and wait for dinner time. Why cant you fish with live bluegills?

really not sure tbh its just one of the many laws here, you cant fish in any of the marinas and also no lure or rig can have more than 2 hooks on it(trebles count as 1), also cant use trout or any pan fish as live bait

Try what I said with hog feed. You can also take it and put it in some fishnet pantyhose and tie it to a rock, just tie a rope to it with a buoy where you can get it later, the feed will last longer this way. Thats some crazy laws, where are you at again?

I live in Las vegas...I fish lake mead and the Colorado river...amazing striper fishing and some pretty decent sized bass too...although my biggest of 2018 was only 5.1 on a keitech with a spinning herring head...no live bait

I meant to tell you ,you might try FISHING with a dead blue gill or shinner no weight no cork just throw out real on top of water to get fishes attention stop let it sink and set for a few minutes. Do not set your rod down with out flipping the bail or pushing the button on the reel because you will loose it. I stumbled on this way by accident.l have caught a lot more trophy bass this way. Big bass are opportunity seekers big meal the easy way.HAHAHA give it a try I think you will be pleasantly surprised. GOOD FISHING!!!!!
