To answer that question: Yes, they do. But what about the worm makes it so enticing to a bass, and what happens when you throw an artificial worm? In this video, I show you how bass react to LIVE Worms, underwater in their habitat. I provide some great commentary, and I hope you guys learn something! Let me know what you think about the footage in the comments below!

I didn't go through all the comments, so this might have been brought up before ... the HUGE difference between your artificial presentation and your live bait presentation. You never stopped moving the artificial baits. The bass were interested, but the constant movement was keeping them from moving in. When it stopped moving, they immediately started moving in on it ... then you jerked it again and they moved off. With the live bait, you let it sit still. MOST people fish artificial baits WAY too fast. Bass are ambush predators. I constantly moving bait "looks" like a chase. When it stops, it's ready to be ambushed.

My funniest story: I've caught one bass up to this point in my life. I usually fish for catfish. However one time I was reeling in my worm super fast to re-cast and ACCIDENTLY caught a huge bass right before the worm got to shore. I literally saw it jump and grab the worm. so that's my only bass I've ever caught story. It was on accident. 😂

Live worms are one of the most effective baits you can use for fishing (blue gill/bass) and definitely in creeks. Creek behind my house has nearly everything from cats, bass, bluegill, gar, carp, drum and a few more I’m forgetting to mention. Night crawlers are always there to have my back in case my lures aren’t making the cut.

Tyler, I have watched MANY of your videos. Brilliant job, my man! This video-study specifically caught my attention because for YEARS I have been asking myself "is this the best they got?". Meaning, plastic worms look great, but they sure as heck are not fished to resemble an earth worm. I'm now 51, married, 4 children. I started a fishing lure company on the side called SPECTRUM LURES. Haven't launched my site yet, BUT my very first lure that is complete is called the CURLIN' WORM. Buddy, I figured it out. I really did. When it's ready to send, YOU are one of the first people I will send this to. Me and my boys are killing it with this new lure. Even our youngest Matthew (9 yrs) who is on the autism spectrum is catching nice 2 pound bass with it. I'll be in touch...soon!

Personally I think that worms most closely resemble freshwater leeches that are found pretty much everywhere. Up here in my part of Canada, we catch tons of bass on both leeches and worms. Depending on the water levels, springtime flooding or just high water in general will wash worms into the system as well.

@TylersReelFishing you gave the perfect voice and tone. You should get a "reel" going for tv/movie pilots and radio and voice acting.

I’ve never caught a single thing on a soft plastic worm, only ONE tiny bite before and it was probably a catfish.

For me, using senkos or yum dingers weightless wacky rigged catches tons of fish. Just jerk it a couple times in a row, stop for a few seconds, then repeat. Works really good in ponds. Works well when it’s warm out too.

I breed my own earthworms for bass fishing but I do use mostly artificial lures to be honest. I like farming and growing things as well so it covers all bases lol. Bank and kayak fishing is my jam. 😏
