Thanks for sticking up for me Jacob! Many of the people putting me down on here don't realize the hard work I put in to find and catch these big bass! I fish lots of different lakes and river systems during the season and many times I don't do well at all even using wild shiners! But I don't give up and I keep searching! Catching big bass is hard! Finally I was able to really get on em and video tape the trip! This is my best personnel five fish limit! Thanks for watching man and good fishing to you!

A 8lb bass isn't all that rare here in Florida on shiners.. On rodman i have caught plenty of fish in the 7 to 9lb range and my fair share of 10+ with my PB being 11.4 on shiners and 10.3 on artificial with my hubbies being 14.2 on shiners and 12.9 on artificial. Dig a hole in the Hydrilla and freeline wild/gold shiners on a weedless khale hook and a 10+ won't take you long... If you know spots in Rodman and you got some real healthy gold shiners i would be willing to bet a 10+ within 2 days on the water.... And I would bet ya that we would boat a couple fish in the 7 to 9lb range with a day on the water.... Once you get a taste of wild shiner fishing on Rodman it's hard to want to do anything else.

My Dad and I fished Okeechobee back in 1976 (I was 13 yrs old). We started the morning at a restaurant called Robert's (happens to be my name to) and I had the BEST Ham Steak and Eggs I've ever had, then and now. A man my dad was talking at the docking area that had a top of the line Bass Boat asked if we would like to checkout the lake a bit on his boat, so he took us for a ride down a canal that took us to the main lake (WOW, that boat was fast!!!). Once on the lake he pointed out some areas to try and back to the dock we went. We had never fished there or for Florida Strain Largemouth Bass and soon realized we had tackle that was WAY to light for the fish that were hitting our baits (shiners with a float attached) that day, (We were using medium/light tackle with 6lb Old School Monofilament). In 1 spot (where our rental boat broke down) I must have lost 5-7 fish all 8lbs or better (from what we could see boat-side) in less then an hour. I say 8lbs + because my dad is 6ft tall, a big guy and his fist could easily fit inside their mouths and were also almost the length of his whole arm!! Unfortunately we had no experience landing bass (or any fish) that big without a net (you know, just grab the lower lip or gill flap, Ugghhh). My dad was to scared to put his hand in their mouths with the hook flying about, so in the end we never landed a Bass due to the light tackle, the razor grass we had to fight the fish through and when we did get a fish to the boat we had no net and my Dad (or I) couldn't get them in the boat by hand. It was the most exciting yet most frustrating day of fishing I've ever had. One of my Bucket-list items is to go back and fish the lake again with the proper equipment and the fishing knowledge I've gained since my childhood. Also having use of a nice Bass Boat would be a nice addition. My other Bucket-List fishing trip is to fly to Panama and then to the All Inclusive "Tropic Star Resort" in Pina Bay that's located on a private Island. Check it out and I bet you'll want to go fishing there to.. Here's to Sharp Hooks, Tight Lines and Big Fish in the cooler!! Cheers and thanks for joining my tour down memory lane...

Nice work! Got them Bill Dance spots... When I was a kid I lived near a canal that was loaded with big wild shiners and large shad. I would always see, and talk with these older guys that came to catch bait. They loved catching these 12" or better shad for bait. The told me they caught 10 to 15 pound fish for every bait. Nice to see so many good fish in one place... That's proper balance in that lake.. We are ready to come fishing say when... Swap you A Everglades Adventure...

I remember casting my lime green spoon lure with black dots over it; I was casting for hours on the dock not getting anything. My arm was worn out tired so I was dropping the lure off the side of the dock and just reeling it up. I was snagging on weeds numerous times just bored and worn out.... next minute you know I "snagged" again on a "weed." I was reeling up the weight of this "weed" when all of a sudden It tugged violently and was twitching rapidly. I was like: "Oh! I got a Fish! I seen the scales shine as it flopped side to side deep in the dark water. Reeled it up and landed my 1st big fish. All on the Berkley BIG GAME Fishing Rod! I LOVE that rod! I purchased another one at Wal-Mart a couple of years ago! That rod will not fail you.

amazing stringer! for anyone interested..... that measuring technique could get you in trouble if your fish is closer to size limit. straight from the FWC, here is directions on how to properly measure a fish... Total Length is measured from the most forward point of the head, with the mouth closed, to the farthest tip of the tail with the tail compressed or squeezed, while the fish is lying on its side.

C.C. - love the video & just subscribed to your channel! Keep it up - makes me miss home... I grew up in Clay County (GCS) fishing the St. John's River from the Hwy 17 bridge south to Palatka area, so stretches of water like that look reel familiar to me! I still get about 1 trip in per year, typically down to Lake Woodruff during Spec season. I wanted to ask you about your hook-set while fishing w/ wild shiners... noticed you tend to set w/ the tip pointed down towards the water & with a sweeping motion. does that make for a better hook set in the corner or roof of the mouth w/ these big fish? thanks for your comments.
@TheNorthFloridaAngler7 жыл бұрын
Very observant of you Robert! Yes this is a hook set technique I've developed over many years of shiner fishing! It enables you to get more swing than the standard strait up hook set. Which is more beneficial, especially when using mono. which has a lot of stretch! It has other advantages also! Most of the bass will be hooked in the corner of the jaw, and some in the top! Thanks for watching and good fishing!

Hey Isaac! Hows it going man! I enjoy lure and live bait fishing! Both methods employ their own unique skill set to be effective! Every body has their favorite ways to fish and that's great! I've had hard core tournament fishing friends tell me the same thing, until I took them shiner fishing one day! None of them asked me to take them back when a giant bass started knocking their 12 inch shiner out of the water! Lol! All of them acted pretty excited when they caught one too! All of them at the end of the day told me they never knew how much technique was involved and how much fun it could be! Many of them said I had opened up a whole new world of fishing and they would definitely be trying this again on their own! There's no guarantee when bass fishing! Whether your using lures or bait! Just go out and have a good time and have a open mind! Tight lines and good fishing man!
@drumandball7 жыл бұрын
That's cool! I am by no means "against" live-bait fishing, its just not my thing. There is probably much more technique involved than I realize. I definitely will try it out some time. It certainly looks like a heck of a lot of fun, though! Anything that can potentially yield a 12 pounder looks like a lot of fun.
@bloodknot10177 жыл бұрын
Isaac - read the book High Percentage Fishing - Doug Hannon and 2 other world renown big bass guys agree that live bait is the best way to get big fish and especially in pressured water, which I think is not the case in this video. The book is a good read.

That's a real NICE comment you made. I'm sure you are a real NICE guy and you're doing a NICE thing by sticking up fot this guy catching one NICE fish after another NICE fish. Yeah he seems to be having a real NICE time out there so why would we let the over use of the word NICE ruin our attempt at having a NICE day. We should be grateful that he's NICE enough to share this NICE video of him catching NICE fish in his NICE boat using his NICE pole with a NICE setup with some NICE bait on a NICE looking lake with his NICE buddy filming it for him on his NICE camera. So I don't understand why such NICE people who watch this are becoming not so NICE now. Leave the NICE guy alone and let him enjoy his NICE time catching NICE fish on his NICE boat with his NICE pole with a NICE setup using some NICE bait on this NICE lake with his NICE buddy filming it on his NICE camera. Geez, what's wrong with you people? If you can't be NICE then maybe you should watch this guy's NICE channel where he's catching NICE fish.........NICE................NICE.pole.................NICE ........and NICE.

Wow! First time seeing your channel and loved it w a huge grin on my face! We fish the Tennessee river,holston and pigeon daily and snag some nice small mouth but Never have I yet to get one close to these! Most won't appreciate or understand the dedication and skill to achieve this type of fishing! Fishing is life here and a huge stress reliever! I honestly am no hater of others and thoroughly enjoyed watching you fish sir! No better feeling than that huge hit and the battle reeling him in! Best wishes for you bro and hoping to catch many more of your awesome catches! Come on out to visit Tennessee some time! Bald eagles flying over daily and we try hard to be polite,welcoming to tourists on our Beautiful water and landscapes! Take care buddy!

Years ago me and a few friends went to this fishing spot. My friend told me I wouldnt need more than one fishing pole because of how good the fishing was. I wouldnt have my line in the water more than a minute before my pole was bending. Everytime I pulled a fish out it was either a 5 pound or heavier bass or a big giant blue gill. I threw all of the bass back and kept 5 big blue gills. My friend's 13 year old son end up catching the biggest bass which was like 8 pounds. That was the best fishing day of my life. The next time that we went to the spot a sheriff came and told us that the people that live in the condominium at the top of the hill was only aloud to fish there. 😢

Wow outstanding!! Is that the biggest bag of fish you've caught alone or a guide trip?
@TheNorthFloridaAngler7 жыл бұрын
That's my heaviest personal five fish limit Victor! I have had heavier five fish limits on guide party's however! Also I've had days where we've had over 170 lbs. of bass! Thanks for watching man!

You remove the hook you left in the first fishes throat? Saw the eye shank where you cut the line.
@TheNorthFloridaAngler7 жыл бұрын
I use non-stainless steel hooks! Once in a while a bass will swallow a hook! It's best to cut the line and leave the hook in! If you try and remove it the fish will die! Maybe not right away but it will die! The bass's strong digestive juices will dissolve the barb and the hook will just fall out or the hook will crumble down to nothing and be passed! If the bass is bleeding it will usually die no ,matter what you do! If the bass is not bleeding and you haven't damaged a vital organ they have about a 75 % survival rate! My own research on bass in my small backyard pond has born this out! Thanks for watching bro and good fishing!

+The North Florida Angler we caught a bass and we skinned it and it had a hook in that look like I came straight out the pack
@devinstewart23337 жыл бұрын
Using some soda on a bleeding fish will stop the bleeding. Great videos!
@gentr57137 жыл бұрын
jjbrown16 sometimes it's safer to leave it in because the skin will heal at the same rate as the hook will rust out which takes away the risk of bleeding the fish out
@TiredAmerican2477 жыл бұрын
WTF are you talking about. Do you know how long fishing hooks take to rust out? That's some stupid thinking right there.
