To be fair, that other channel you mentioned has never billed itself as strictly a firewood channel. It's just one of many outdoor things that they are involved in. And yes - they have built a very successful channel (nothing wrong with that!). So good in fact that, by his own admission, it allowed him to quit a six-figure job because he was making more money on YT! Ah......'Merica!! To me, he's livin' the dream and I couldn't care less how much firewood he sells in a year! But I also enjoy your videos a great deal, and always look forward to seeing what you're up to!👍

@@garny3766 you know nothing of the Morgan’s if you think they’ll be hurting if they lose KZbin revenue. Their son might have to go back to work but that’s it. His excavator and tractor can make him a lot of cash. Plus his retirement plan from his job he retired from. Plus firewood sales which he is increasing. Plus lumber. Plus they get money from the gas company if you watch his most recent video.

Great people on that channel as well. He mentioned a sponsorship for the tractors from Kubota. I believe it was 2 years. Wolf ridge has "sponsored" them as well seeing as they really helped him get noticed. I'm sure they have some sort of deal worked out to promote equipment as well, so they kind of are obligated to put it in their episodes. Either way. Between all the channels I watch these are the 2 that I watch almost daily. The best part of KZbin is watching real people doing what they love and giving me the opportunity to watch. Congrats to all who make a go of it!

I don't know why there has to be so much criticism and condemnation of others. Chris wasn't criticizing anyone. He answered someone's question the best he knew how. At the same time, why does that channel deserve criticism? Have they done anything dishonest? I don't even know which one is being asked about, but it seems to me they're applying the same principle Chris does, and that others do, and that I do--that of multiple streams of income (except that I don't have a YT channel as part of my livelihood.) What's wrong with that? Are they committing a crime? Are they deceiving anyone? Are they hurting or victimizing anyone?

The only way you could speed things up with the tractor is stack all your wood into totes. I started using the IBC totes 3 years ago. They are amazing. You can get a face cord in them. I split and stack into them and that’s the last time I’ll touch it until I’m unloading it. I pick them up with skid loader and attacked them to forks with giant clips like you see some guys have keys on. Dump right into the truck or trailer. Works pretty slick. And like your pallets you can find them for free. I haven’t ever paid for 1 yet and have around 140 of them

After two years of collecting wood, I've decided to only get wood that is close to home since I have a really good stash now. On Sunday a guy with a mile or so from my house posted that he had some free wood. I drove over to his place and it's probably 4-5 cords of logs that are stacked and the majority of them are red or white oak and ash. They have been stacked for a little over 2 years, so they're just right. That's two years of wood for me. Most of them are the 6-10 inch logs that are easy to lift and split. Talk about a bonanza! Glad to see you making hay while the sun is shinning. Your statuesque Uncle Benjamin is quite the talker.

Chris just an idea. Maybe it won't increase time but, what you think about using your tractor, drive to each specific species of wood, and load truck or trailer with the tractor when people ask for mix hardwood? That way you aren't driving your truck/trailer around the wood yard? Foe example fill the bucket with .25 of 1 type, drive to the next grab .25 of another, dump and repeat.

Would you say the 10 ft. dump trailer is about ideal for firewood deliveries? I know you have to stack to get 4 face chords on at one time. But if you went with a bigger trailer you'd probably have to upgrade your truck to be able to handle it. Do you think the 10 ft. is the good balance? Hi Chris, yes I am sure I know the channel you are referring too! More than a lot of expensive machinery to look at too!! Obviously, clocking up 'KZbin' views to generate a good income, rather than really bothering with firewood. Another channel.... Old 'Joe' has some good kit, but doesn't hide the fact that he doesn't like hard work, but pulls no punches either!! Like the order form....bet your son did that for you...gotta be good with word or access for that sort of thing? Oh well, back to Devon and this miserable weather. Just to note, I am paying about $200 for a face cord of oak/ash ..delivered.
