Being a Mets fan, understandably we have gotten spoiled the last few years with Steve Cohen taking over for the Wilpons, but I’m trying to figure out why some of you guys feel like you’re owed an explanation by David Stearns on how he puts together the 2025 team and have the right to complain about every move. Look I don’t love this either but I am sure the thought process is you’re going to get him fairly easily I don’t think anyone heading back to Det would hurt us in anyway so it’s cost controlled guy who you just are hoping for change of scenery bounce back kind of situation of this we’ve seen several times before. Only problem is he does not fit in what Stearns likes - athletic, versatile guys who can play all over the diamond. Alonso's market is coming to a head and it's not looking nice for him. Now that teams know his price isn't 200 million for 6 years they're coming forward with their smaller bids. If the theory that David Stearns doesn't like Pete is true the Mets probably won't count offer and rely on Pete taking a home discount to stay.

So how often do teams using youth players held together by a several superstars make it big in MLB? I have followed the Mets for about 10 years, always loved baseball but no idea of deep history. In football in England this sort of thing has worked well often - Stearns seems to be backing our youth product and I think it could be a great idea... #LGM

I’m really worried about this, I’m really worried about the possibility of actually losing Pete Alonso, the Polar Bear, and who could be if he stays, the most prolific power hitter in NY Mets history….this is very concerning to me. Please Mets please, re-sign Pete, please!! It’s wonderful and great they signed Soto, but isn’t nearly enough, especially when trying to compete with the Dodgers. Losing Pete would leave an incredible gaping hole in the lineup regardless of who they attempt to replace him with. His kind of production and power numbers doesn’t grow on trees, we absolutely need him back, period. Please Mets re-sign the Polar Bear, please!!!

We have a great owner. I love Steve Cohen. Especially after the Wilpons cheap asses. Stearns has signed Holmes, Montas, Minter, and several others. I get what you're saying about trying to get some more big name free agents, but it's a 2 way street...those big name free agents gotta want to come to New York too. Give Stearns time to cook man. If in a couple of years he hasn't gotten us where we need to be, then call him out.

Torkelson is offensively a downgrade from Alonso. His numbers avg and obp are horrid. He's young but still only 10 hr's last year. Not exciting or worth parting prospects for. Even his 2023 season strikeouts and other numbers were bad. Only HR's were avg.
