With exclusivity being detrimental to high development cost games, is it possible that Nintendo’s model could be problematic on newer hardware? It seems like they really benefitted from lower development costs being good with exclusivity.

It's hard to say considering that DQ3 Remake sold most of its copies in Japan on the Switch, so going exclusive with Nintendo might be the way to go.

@ I don’t disagree with this, but I think there’s going to have to be a baseline for games to sell that’s going to be higher than what was needed in the past, which could limit some of the less mainstream games that were loved on the Switch.

I have the opinion that if SE would make final fantasy 17 in a 2D-HD style it would have better sale numbers than 16 did. Release it on all systems, make it in that 2D-HD style. Not a remake, remaster, re envisioned… A brand new story, not a part one of a story. Something that goes back to the days where there was always a major plot twist near the end that leads towards an epic fantasy tale. Oh and make it turn based, give us the octopath break system or similar. Those games the combat is amazing, the only flaw is the stories don’t really come together till the very end. Then a few years later give us a tactics final fantasy just like triangle strategy combat, but less dialogue, that game was great but that was its one flaw in my opinion.

Yeah well if the switch versions of FF weren't cloud based for the later versions they would do better because i skipped X AND X2 for those reasons same with kingdom hearts they need to get their sh!t together for switch 2
