I'm back in the Off-Grid Garage! Let's get right into it. There is so much work to do!
I'm catching up on a few things I wanted to do for a while
- installing the auxiliary sensor in the main MCCB (after I searched for it for over 2h)
- showing you the inside of one of my crimps. Looks good to me...
- planning the next steps for getting the battery shelf ready for installation. There is still a lot of mechanical work necessary, but it needs to be done
The 8t hydraulic crimper I'm using:

Heya, that could be handy that switch
@centerrightproudamerican5727
@centerrightproudamerican5727 2 жыл бұрын
You could use the ancillary switch to turn the Victron SCCs off. This is not quite the same as turning off the incoming PV power, but it would be simple to implement. From the manual: "The MPPT 150/35 can be controlled remotely by a VE.Direct non-inverting remote on-off cable (ASS030550300). An input HIGH (Vi > 8V) will switch the controller on, and an input LOW (V < 2V, or free-floating) will switch the controller off. Application example: on/off control by a VE.Bus BMS when charging Li-ion batteries."

The difference between AX and AL is most likely: AX is usually aux contact for when circuit breaker is operated and AL is aux contact for when circuit breaker is triggered

I use the 3 way knife fuse switch thingy. I put all my charge through a fuse in this. So if the switch is manually pulled, it also cuts power from any charging so it truly kills the inverter.
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 2 жыл бұрын
That would work for a manual disconnection but not for an actual trigger in case of a fault, right? It's more a manual switch type solution.
@jasondevine6014
@jasondevine6014 2 жыл бұрын
@@OffGridGarageAustralia yes indeed. Your CB is a better solution. Are you going to put some relays like ev200 on the solar input? Have you addressed the short circuit fault state of a single charge controller yet?

Hey Andy, @Off-Grid Garage, on any of the BMS's that you have tested, do they have an output that can be used to control a relay to cut the field winding on an alternator prior to high voltage cutoff?
@OffGridGarageAustralia
@OffGridGarageAustralia 2 жыл бұрын
No, none of them have such a function build in. The BMS is not a charge regulator/controller, it's a protection device. It cannot be used to charge a battery.

@@777coles Ah, you mean the elbow... Yeah this was a bit of a nightmare to get. Actually one of my viewers knew someone who was able to buy it online. They sell them only to registered automobil service shops here in Australia. Much easier to get in the US. You can just make your own using two copper busbars and link them together 90°. This is what I should have done as well. In which country are you?
