Lived with lister st 2 generator for 20 years off grid - now live 20 years on grid -- i miss the old way I still have the lister it always ran great never any problems I think they are great engines

There was also Lister's considerable contribution to rural dairy farm economy where the home might have laid-on power but the cow-shed not so. The pum-pum-pum-pum of the reliable Lister engine operating the vacuum pump was a ubiquitous sound between 3:30 and 5:00 up and down New Zealand into the 1960s.

When the Pinto car was introduced in 1970, It had two engine options available. One was the German 4 cyl. 2.0 litre and the Lister 1.5 litre 4 cyl. The German engine was a real runner. The English engine, not so much. I chose the German one. I would shift it when it wouldn't go any faster in a certain gear. Ran the hell out of that engine.

So cool i have pumped water with a lister i was prolly 10 the motor had been in use several years after that from brand new i am 60 now when grandpa died that motor was retired

@@stephransley4371 i think you are wrong about shims under the barrel petters had that. Lister had shims that were fitted along with the head gasket , 1966 when i started working on lister and petters .
