Totally unrelated to this video but recently saw Phil give a series of lectures at sea. Bloody brilliant. Delivered with wit and humility from a natural orator. Funny, profound and at times very sad but by far the best entertainment onboard. Thank you so much.

I don't think you understand the political picture. Not meant to offend. But this war is ending one way or the bad way. Negotiations will work only if the Trump administration understand that. However he doesn't seem to have surrounded himself with the proper people for such negotiations. And if there is a meeting between Trump and Putin it's not going to be long. There is a breeze that gives me optimism that this war will end before the summer. For one he is more interested in China. Anyway we are in turbulent times. The global system is changing. Everyone is fighting for something ignoring institutions like UN, Courts and rights. UK has project global Britannia making schemes as usual. US day dreaming for the times of old being the only power while living in the post apocalypse. Germany looks like a its shutting down not knowing what to do. Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and the Vatican taking charge in Europe. The European commission fragmenting the alliance. BRICKS getting in a position to isolate the western powers from the world. Israel working towards Greater Israel. Turkey aiming to restore parts of its Ottoman past. Iran on the edge of nuclear weapons. China prepping to take Taiwan by force. Total chaos. Our leaders seem to have forgotten the horrors of war. Talking about tactical nuclear strike or saying that we can have nuclear war with Russia and win. Absolutely insane. In all this madness the most certain thing is that Ukriane will loose and loose it big. The more it continues to be forced to fight the more they will lose.

**“Mate, what’s that Russian party game? You know, the one with a bottle of neat Smirnoff, a furry hat (apologies to any hats triggered by the word ‘hat’), a walk-in freezer at -20°C, and a .357 Magnum with one round? The rules are dead simple: neck a shot, spin the cylinder, press it to your hat, and pull the trigger. Cognitively? Easy. Psychologically? You’ve got to be cracked. Now imagine the revolver is a six-chamber warhead launcher, each chamber holding hypersonic missiles that look like alien tech for planetary extermination. So yeah, playing Russian roulette with actual Russians while lobbing long-range missiles at their front porch… what could possibly go wrong? No risk of Armageddon there. Right? Lol.”**

@StilettoGreenback23 күн бұрын
Militarily speaking they are classed as long range missiles, 300km - as opposed to the field artillery previously employed by Ukraine. The whole point being they can fire beyond the frontline.

“In September 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened retaliation for attacks on Russian territory. Experts said Putin's threats are aimed at dissuading the United States, the United Kingdom and France from allowing Ukraine to use Western-supplied ‘’long-range’’ missiles such as the Storm Shadow and ATACMS in strikes against Russia.

Just a quick addition; Look at the narrative being laid out. If ‘they’ are successful, Putin will be framed just the exact same as a certain Austrian painter. Ironic isn’t it. They’ve been up to the same old tricks for about a thousand years now, believe it or not. In the Information Age though, their time is almost up. People are becoming wise. A certain, big businessman with funny hair, I believe, is going to see to it that this ends and we have our world back as it should be, unimpeded. In fact, further to this, look at the words he used only yesterday or the day before. Golden age. He used this term in relation to the same things I was talking about. Make no mistake.

@sixbells9922 күн бұрын
As always great video and analysis from Phil. I agree this is a bargaining position, also its certain that there are unofficial communication paths, not to mention intelligence, to get the barometer of the consequences of these kinds of actions. But here is the risk we face, firstly the mistake from the west often made is we think the enemy has the same values and morality as us. Russians have a very different view of young soldiers in body bags, they have much higher tolerance to casualties. Secondly Germany is at risk of economy collapse with its car industry, Trump will not want to look like a failure, but he will not care who wins, he just wants to appear he is saving American dollars. He will create a vacuum, and the case will be will for Europe to cough up more money but France with gridlocked political system, the UK with its own problems, this would be very painful and chaotic. Putin is also weakened, just see what happened in Syria . A weakened Putin is a dangers Putin, he will take more risk, he knows losing would mean his head. Make no doubts about it, the next 3 to 6 months will be the most dangerous yet. Putin has NO moral barrier holding him back from using nuclear weapons, it is only strategy and if he feels his cards are slipping away, he will use them. Also, if the Ukraine get desperate and feel they are abandoned they might start taking actions that could also force it. Very dangerous days indeed. Our best hope is that the actions of the long range missiles will lead to a peace deal.

Let’s be honest-Ukraine has lost this war and stands no chance of winning unless NATO puts boots on the ground, which simply isn’t going to happen. The fact that the average age of a frontline soldier is now 42 speaks volumes about the state of their armed forces-they’ve been utterly decimated.Continuing to supply Ukraine with missiles and military aid is only making an already disastrous situation worse. It’s not changing the outcome; it’s just prolonging the suffering for Ukraine and escalating tensions with Russia. This isn’t a strategy for peace or resolution-it’s fueling a conflict that’s spiraling out of control.And let’s not forget: Russia has the capability to deliver hypersonic missiles to nearly any location on the planet with deadly accuracy, a threat for which Europe has no effective defense. The current situation is scaring the living shit out of me, especially with the clowns we’re stuck with in London, Washington, Berlin, and Paris. Their reckless decisions are putting all of us at risk.This is just my opinion really means nothing in the grand scheme of things .

Thats what alot of people thought about the UK in WW2 but we did successfully repel the Germans for over 2 years before the USA entered the fray and although we could not have beaten them on our own we had the Navy and Air force to continue repelling them. Russia has taken massive losses of manpower and I don't think the Ukranians are ready to quit anytime soon. Its basically a war of attrition by Russia, would't bet against Ukraine tho
@Denali160023 күн бұрын
At end Nov 2023 Russia controlled 17.4% of Ukraine's territory and a year later (end Nov 2024) they control 17.9%. So yes they are gaining some territory, but at huge cost in troops and equipment. Russia's economy is suffering: central bank interest rate is at 21% (UK Bank of England is 4.75%) think what mortgages look like over there. Even if Russia accelerated (from current gain of 0.5% of land per year) and surged to victory in 2025, they couldn't afford to keep the troop numbers in Ukraine to occupy it long term, as the Ukrainian's now have such a hatred of Russians (the rapes, torture, murders committed by Russia) that it would become an insurgency war that Ukraine would long term win. Re Hypersonic missiles, hard to shoot down yes but destroying the launch planes and bases would not be so hard. Ukraine has 6 (yes SIX) modern fighters (F16s), NATO has over 3,000 modern fighters. NATO also has thousands of long range missiles and artillary systems, whilst Ukraine only has a handful of systems and is barely given permission to use them in anger.

Why there's no consistency of supporting and treating every war the same, there's always stronger and the weaker side in war? For example during the war in Croatia West raised sanctions, denieing right to defend to Croatians. If the west is supporting honestly fight for freedom and democracy why they're making a difference, or support can expect only the ones fighting Russians? This only proves Ukraine is fighting Russians for West. All about hurting Russians.

Just feels like a long drawn out dance to inevitably. Call me cynical, but most plans will incorporate the idea of who gets to stay safe on which piece of land. For the Russians, that piece is Ukraine, and I can't see them retreating voluntarily, with or without Peacekeeper- persuasion. A break, at this point of the Ukrainian journey, feels more like permitting Russian troops to take a breather and regroup before they push on to carve out more territory that simply doesn't belong to them.

One thing i dont agree with what the interviewer said at the end, at the beginning when russia was entering Kyiv, and that supply line was "stuck" for weeks. Wait it miraculously vanished in a day. They were NOT stuck! They were waiting on the assault group to take Kyiv. They failed, so they went home. HOW can anyone believe they were stuck. Smh. The next assult in Kursk long range missles wont do much when the battle is so dynamic, those missles are for destroying fixed targets. They are only scare tactics.
