Got the two prints on Wednesday Maddie and my wife loves them. She is a Master Gardener and loves plants and flowers that are purple. She used to paint a little 25 years ago, but doesn't have the time anymore. We're both older now and not in great health. It was incredible to see her smile and tear up when she saw your work. Thanks for making her really happy.

Glad you guys had the housesit, perfect timing! Look into a propane adapter called a “steak saver”, they’re around $10 and worth it…allows you to switch your propane hose from your bigger tank to one of those 1 lb green propane canisters as a backup. Keep one or two canisters on hand and that’ll at least let you cook when the bigger tank is empty! FYI, if you’re going to boondock in dark regions like the PNW in winter, having multiple backup power sources is pretty much a must, because you’ll basically never get enough solar even on the sunniest of days this far north. It’s actually been remarkably sunny this month, but you’re likely taking in a tenth of what you’d expect in solar between the latitude and short daylight hours. A DC-DC charger (honestly a must for vanlife), big portable powerbank with fast charging so you can recharge in a coffee shop, or a tiny generator (even though I hate the noise factor, I have a wee 900 watt propane genny for emergencies that runs off the 1 pound Coleman type green canisters…just enough to periodically charge up my trailer’s AGM as needed). Preferably all three, but having at least one of those makes a difference in your comfort level and in keeping your wheeled house mold-free. Alternatively, you end up having to plan on a plug in campsite every 2-3 days depending on your onboard battery capacity & the weather. Hope this week is going better & you two are over whatever crud you caught!

Maddie just a couple suggestions to make it easier on you when your by yourself and when your with someone. Get yourself a bigger propane tank or get yourself another one the same size. You mentioned about going to the store quite often. The two of you get your heads together and make a menu. Guarantee it will save you money . Love you both. Be safe

Since you're relatively close if you end up driving north to Seattle, when I lived there years ago I took my car to a service shop in North Seattle that I found to be honest and reliable, Edwards Auto Service, just west of Aurora or Route 99. Back then I didn't know how to work on cars. Not sure if they're still around or under the same management, but I'd vouch for them if you need work done on your van or just want someone to look it over to see what work it might need and give you estimates. Not part of a chain or so big that it feels impersonal. Incidentally, if you do end up leaving your van there, even if only for a few hours, there's a great paved rails to trails path just west of it, called the Interurban Trail, where a local trolley used to run many decades ago (it's the one made famous by that Fremont sculpture Waiting for the Interburban). It sorta kinda leads to a great local park I used to go to often, Carkeek, to walk, run or enjoy the views of Puget Sound and the Olympic mountains. Well worth a visit if you're anywhere near, and there are decent sized parking lots on either end of it, but you can probably walk to the upper end in 30-40 minutes from that service shop. It has an old growth forest vibe with a creek running through it that you can still occasionally see a few salmon swimming upstream through, in season. There's also a really nice Asian market nearby, and a bit further north a huge supermarket with a Trader Joe's sort of vibe, which I think is now called Town & Country Market in Shoreline. They're also accessible from the Interurban. Man I miss those days.

For moisture I use arm n hammer bags in my van. They wick away moisture into a bag that I throw away when its full! Find them where the ironing boards are sold. ❤ 😊

Van life should not be filled with so many things going wrong. Now the mold. Do you have a Fantastic Fan or something similar in your ceiling? It is crucial to remove the condensation from your cooking and your breathing. Black mold is very toxic. Wonder if that is making you sick. Sinus? Chest congestion, by chance? Not sure why you are on the road when your van doesn’t seem completed. How do you run out of propane? I hate that you face such stress everyday. Although I don't own this vacuum and thus can't say anything about it, I do own several of their USB chargers and have been quite happy with them, including for use abroad. They're fairly new in the US so a lot of people understandably have reservations about their products, but my experience has been wholly positive. And, so glad you found Sunset Hill Park in Seattle! I used to live just a few miles from there and biked or drove there all the time (the bike ride from Ballard is uphill the entire way, around a mile and not for everyone, but so rewarding if you're up for it). Other than perhaps nearby Discovery Park it had the best views of Puget Sound and the Olympics in the area in my opinion. It's also very close to Carkeek Park, which I mentioned in my previous comment. Make sure to make it to West Seattle and Alki if you can! (I haven't yet watched the whole video so I don't know if you did make it there). And while I'm at it, I'd also highly recommend Golden Gardens Park (just minutes from Sunset Hill), Seward Park and Gasworks Park. ...Oops, my mistake. That's not Sunset Hill Park. Kerry Park, perhaps. further south, with its famous "Frasier" view of Seattle? Also a must see. But these other parks are well worth the time as well. Seattle has so many great parks that it's hard to keep track of them all!
