Bring a good magnet with you when you're looking for "rocks" because you would be surprised at people who have meteorites and have no clue what they have. I have a large chunk which my late mother in law found on her family farm when she was a little girl and it's worth over $2,000. It's about 8" more or less round, she didn't know what it was until I picked it up when we moved her in with us, and it was a lot heavier than it should have been, and so I set a magnet on it and it was magnetic, now that doesn't always mean meteorite, so I then got my dremel and scored off a nickle sized section and saw bright silver, now my heart was going! I brought it to University of Toronto and had it confirmed! That was three years ago, and the professor told me $2,000 was being very conservative, and if I have it sliced into thin sheets double that! It's always worth taking a magnet in your pocked, even if you're out for a nature walk, walking you dog, at the farm or fishing somewhere, if you find a rock that looks almost slightly melted on the edges, and is a lot heavier than it looks, get the magnet out! D"OH! did I just say that out loud??? ") Love the channel! Jack - Canada ~'()'~

My late Aunt Rose was a rock hound, after turning 65 she became one of the most knowledgable people in the word on the subject of rocks and minerals, petrified wood, etc. After she died, her entire collection was donated to the University of Arizonan museum, at no cost.
@TheAuctionProfessor5 жыл бұрын
At least they were donated to a museum were others will be able to enjoy them as well.

Salut, Your Aunt sure sounds like a sweet lady, and a collector of empiricaI knowledge, equally to and alongside her awesome rockhounding bounty that she tirelessly accumulated and loved. I truly believe it is well, I daresay of the utmost importance, for one to learn about the various minerals, by getting hands on and physical, testing and evaluating just exactly what one has found, whether one is dealing with something biological made petrified through a particular geological process or another, keeping clear and free of those infamous institutions and everwise academies that look mostly towards shooting down fair and logical queries with retorts of custom fit answers and illgical definitions without giving any serious examination into the specifics of the proposed quarry. These lazy, dead end and absolute, no ifs ands or buts sciences are quite tragic, and seem to me to be altogether the major problem, to include the so-called precision of the carbon dating method, the given process describing the deposition of metals into vein, what volcanoes are told us and what they really are, and the purportment of million year old fossils in general should also be in question, for all specimens beg more thought, particularly with regards to the many forms of petrified wood, environment and mineralization present, state of the subject jist prior petrificaton, and the end result, requires less book diving and more use of one's senses to fully understand how to arrive at the answers....at least, that is my opinion.... Thanks, Sending Cheers and Blessings!

While removing copper tubing & wire from a house for ebay I happened across the pile of rocks from the chimney torn down. I saw petrified wood. To my amazement there were many. I know I can sell it on ebay so I've been researching it & that's how I found you. The house was built in the 40's & a custom hand chimney made by the owner. Just wonderful & free for me!

I’ve got a ton of p-wood including a full round like yours but with more white color, some branches, some with purplish black, red, cream etc. nearly all has excellent growth ring patterns, some with knots and splintering, sap etc... most was found on my property and there’s still more to collect. An eBay store may not be a bad idea.

I found a place on a dead volcanoe that I can't find any record of. It has no history other than its beside " Tom Dick and Harry Mt." around Portland Oregon in Hood National Forest. I found a Geode covered with silver specs. Cracked it on site...it had a oxide discolor like it was super heated at one point. Perfect round discolored center looked like blue steel, solid.....BUT PEPPERED WITH SILVER Fines. GOING BACK TODAY. Kicking myself in the ass for not bringing the one piece down. Thought at the time " its probably in every other rock not really realizing I found silver. Right off a trail head. Came home, checked my samples......😳IM GOING BACK.👇 Ok, ok ,I'll spill it. MIRROR LAKE WAS CREATED BY A TOP BLASTED MOUNTAIN/VOLCANO ..OR A METEOR HIT THAT MOUNTAIN. YOU SEE IT CLEAR AS DAY FROM SPACE. BUT B4 RECORDS WERE KEPT...PROBABLY B4 THE TIME OF MAN....SOMETHING HAPPENED HERE.

did you know that almost every rock was once alive as a part of either a giant human, average size human or an animal and everything was killed instantly at the time of the ( alleged) great flood . You will be amazed at how many brains you have held in your hand without knowing it . My collection is getting big , i now have 9 brains , 7 hearts , many lungs, livers , kidneys , spleens , etc , its a great hobby , and i predict in the near future that these will be big sellers for collectors , even though they are everywhere

I sold my # ticket for a huge rock sale .. I was #1 in line sold my # for ruffly 1500.00 ... The whole lot cost 2500.00 I did not have capital at the time and couldn’t buy the lot ... I think there was ruffly 1000-2000 stones and fossils ... But I missed out because there was some very expensive stuff in this home ... Home of a avid time travel researcher .. Estatesales are where you find these large lots and rare interesting items/ fossils / rocks ... One fossil in the lot sold for 5000.00 to the Boston museum of science..

It's amazing what you can find just by "seeking" - I'm new to reselling but found my first petrified wood limb recently and paid probably about a $1 for it was included within a bundle at a make shift estate sale/ yardsale and was able to sell it for over a hundred - I looked at all the ones that sold that were similar and knew I had a gem for it was a beautiful piece that looked way cooler than the majority listed - it only weighed about 6lbs if I can remember and decided to price it high but think I could have priced it higher and it would have still sold. Than a short time after I scored a humongous snail fossil at goodwill of all places for I think $7 and haven't listed it yet but it should still have a good return. Do you ever have a hard time selling something you really really like? One thing I enjoy about this business is having the opportunity to handle things that otherwise you never would have had a chance to even if it is for a short time. Just recently subscribed and am really liking the content you're sending out to us who are interested. - Thanks

Actually have museums who want to buy it because they say they have never seen such a nice 3 dementional example of this particular prehistoric tree. Found in Indiana / Illinois region. Open to highest offer. Weighs about 150 pounds at least, maybe more. Takes two to lift. Would have to freight it but freight is cheaper than you think.

The Auction Professor The one I have came to the surface during excavation for new development. What I find strange is yours and mine looks like short cut offs, if they were actually trees millions of years ago. My first impression of this one was that it at one time was a tree, or branch of a tree because it has on ring in the end, and on the outside, what looked like bark. However I then started to ask myself, could these rocks be a section of a stalactite or stalagmite, they look very similar to the ones I have seen in caves in England
@TheAuctionProfessor6 жыл бұрын
I don't know about yours, but mine is 100% petrified wood. Stalagmites, and stalactites both will have layers as well though, but they aren't found in large sizes. They are also basically stone just like the petrified wood so they could look very similar. We have been to several caves around here as well as Mammoth Cave so I have seen those as well.
