Tip today when you passed a boat on you left you got hooked up. This because as your boat goes through the water it scares the fish. The excited fish runs into your crank bait and hook up. This is why when trolling it is so Important to travel in S' configurations. Keep a steady speed as the whip of the curve will speed up and slow down the lure. Matthew

Are you going to shadowcliff or quarry lakes for lightning trout? They're stocking during the week of Christmas.

I heard back in day, that Shadow Cliffs little lake has some weird bacteria in the lake and closed the fishing for sometime. If it’s open, it’s new to me???
@rainzer04 жыл бұрын
@@fabulousrobert6607 it's been opened for fishing for years now. I think they just want you to keep the trout and leave the bass.

Adam the largest trout that I have caught so far was 12 pounds. Caught at lake Cabot. I was caught in the wind trying to get around the point. The wind kept blowing towards the shore. So the boat was going in radical turns left to right. Fishing with a half oz. Cast Master blue and silver with smelly Jelly Special Mix. Had my five a have foot daiwa wedged behind me between the bench seat and the back of the boat. The fish struck and I caught the pole as it was flying out the boat. What a rush. Matthew

Adam, nice trout! You fooled me at 08:39, I was looking at the bend in your rod and was thinking "Holy smokes ! You have a bite and you don't even know it! Then a moment later you take the rod from the rod holder and I see the lure is hooked to the rod and not even in the water! LOL

What places would everyone recommend for a first time trout fishermen
@matthaley81764 жыл бұрын
Spoons I figured out how to customize the soon to get vicious bites. Using a Acme thunderbolt spoon paint one side with different colors of small specs mimicking the look of a small rainbow trout then on the concave side add a large fluorescent dot, in the center put a black dot. Fish aim for the eye of the bait fish this a very good lure for putting on down rigger. Matthew

First one was maybe a breeder - sweet. Do you know you can slide the green hooks up your yellow chord if you wanted so they are not near the fish? I use that same stringer - nothing to rust so I've had it for ages! Bring on the next challenge

This is going to be a good week and a half. Also if you want a better hookup ratio on those rapalas I’d recommend getting some owner treble hooks(they work really well on similar bass lures). Keep it up.

Hey quick Q but when trolling with these or with the grubs do you find that you need to be going at a certain speed to trigger the bite? If so, how fast? Like 1.5 - 2mph~ ?

When you get a “short strike” it is the trout trying to stun the bait fish-lure. He will then circle back and try to eat it so when you get that short strike stop and open the bail of your reel and let the crank bait float. After 15 seconds or so close the bail and reel in and you may have a fish.

Noticed you are hooking up and then loosing the fish. Tighten your drag if to loose won't set the hook deep enough causing to loose the fish. I was that you found fire tiger rapala broken back.This is the lure that I have caught more fish they any other. If you tie with a loop knot when tieing on the lure you will get the best action out of the lure,be sure to Chk action after catching a fish especially if it's a large fish. Can cause lure to go out of tune. Matthew

It is not like you do in the ocean, you should know the freshwater trout you didn't set the hook right and missed them. You have too hesitate then set the hook. Not hard but not that crap you just did, of just reeling in. Live and learn. Great video!

When trout are jumping, that's when I always suspect fly fishing might be the ticket. My hypothesis is that the trout are striking at insects on or near the surface. But, since I'm not a fly fisherman, it remains just an unproven hypothesis. It could just be my excuse for not being able to catch them on bait & lures... ;-p

Maybe someone can clarify: do the steelhead rules apply (I think the limit's 2, right?) or does it count as a regular trout limit (10). Not that you really need 10 trout at 4-5 lbs. each. Does anyone know where they're fishing?
