Big Reds Love Live Mullet in Port Mansfield | Bonus Flounder on AM Lures

I’m finally back and I’m back with another banger! I had been seeing my friend Juan Moreno of ‪@morenoanglers9800‬ slaying them flounders out there and decided I would go try my luck for some of the flat species. I show up to my bait spot in the marina where I get eaten alive by mosquitoes and am forced to leave with only 2 live baits, one was a lady fish and the other a 4 inch mullet. I throw a couple of cast with my net when I finally get to my spot and manage to get another 2 more mullet. Water being high made it pretty hard to catch finger mullet. Lots of big ones but I wasn’t looking for those. Finally set up the rods and start fishing. I miss a few small bites on the soft plastic before hooking into the first keeper of the day. Soon after I hear the drag peeling on my live mullet bottom set ups and hook up with the best fish of the day. Next fish is a good flounder around 18” and then I hear the drag peeling again with my second redfish 25”. Soon after that I decide I have enough fish and head to my truck for the measurement and tagging of the oversized redfish. Nice video! And Nice catch! I rarely see anyone wade on the south side of (Port Mansfield) I love this spot. The county put up a kayak launch on its south most side. I saw this fan boat decide to launch from this spot one afternoon just before sunset and quickly found out that they are able to do so even though it's extremely shallow. Nonetheless, a few months later they took it upon themselves to post a sign that states no waders allowed south of that sign. The Laguna Madre is public. Some Local city officials decided to take ownership of the bay! They cannot do this. Most likely someone with a little cash bribed them or their buddies with the local leaders. So I tell anyone that I see wanting to wade in that area to fish if they please and if they have any issues to call the game warden. State laws supersede any local ordinances. Tight lines my friend and to everyone fishing Port Mansfield.

We hit the same spot 7 months later & only using live finger mullet, we Limited out again on May 23 2023. 26 to 27 3/4" Reds. Love it. Wish I lived down there

Take the road from Raymondville and go east until you hit the water. There’s to sides to Port Mansfield, the North and the South side. Just google the fishing piers in your maps app. There’s a new pier on the North Side which is my favorite but fishing is good on both sides. Good luck out there!

I went thier this past Sunday morning but for some reason nothing came out , the wind was good 6mph thru some live croker and man ged to only get one 17” Speck idk if it was cuz it was gona rain or what but yeah i love fishing that spot

Hey @lino9168 Go towards Raymondville and go east on 186. When you get to the water that’s Port Mansfield. There’s 2 piers, one on the North and one in the south. The north is where is video was filmed. Good luck out there right now is the start of the Redfish run.

Hey Roberto, I’m using Waterloo Salinity moderate action with a 1/4oz Strikeking redfish magic jig head. I run about 18 inches of fluorocarbon on the end of my braid to get more strikes
