Piotrek Czyński Its called a Calstar.West coast of USA I believe.50lb class,though double rated.5ft 6inch long. I should have bought the 6 foot.I have the 50/130(80lb class) and have had a shark on standup in excess of 1000lbs with it.

I use 6/0 senators myself hooked possible skate couldn't turn handle drag I'd also annoying lever is better but I also use a tld 30a. much better to use drag star drag ( which a senator useses) is hard to change mid fight u have to hold reel handle and turn the knob slowly while the fish Is on

Yes ,I have used blood before,but its a bit of hassle as you need to add an anti-coagulant to prevent it clotting. Never did any better with it than the usual mashed fish,in fact I think mashed fish is better. I wouldn't bother with it again myself..Hope that helps.

If the shark is too big to pull into the boat, some people attempt to use a hook remover but more often than not Ive heard of people keeping bolt cutters on their boat to cut the hook as close to the shark's jaw as possible

A little while ago I denigrated Graham's claim of being a shark expert as a 'likeable and entertaining berk who catches a lot of dogfish'. Today I am making a heartfelt apology. Graham, you are indeed a shark man.
@TAFishing4 жыл бұрын
I never knew I was even denigrated and can barely spell it,but I have many who fire off opinions who have probably never met me or have any idea how long I have been fishing etc. Thank you for the apology,I assure you it is exceedingly rare to find anyone who makes an apology...of any kind..so thanks for that. I have long had an association with sharks,written a book on them,countless fishing articles in various magazines on sharks,caught so many shark species I can barely recall them all,had 8 over 1000lbs,inc a grander on standup tackle,largest shark 1500lbs,caught them from the shore to 150lbs ,we even have a film up in the vintage section where I take out a rental boat with my family and get a 500lb Hammerhead . I've had Bulls,Tigers,Blacktips,Lemons,Twenty Makos, obviously a few thousand Blues ,thresher,Galapagos..etc etc....but you are right,like many ordinary anglers I also catch Dogfish. I have no trouble with being called a Berk I'm thick skinned...Thanks again for taking the trouble to apologise,and stay safe.
