Sorry to hear that the girls are not feeling well. I don't fret much about getting stuff planted late anymore cause our season seems to last a bit longer than it did when I was younger. Justro, most turtles you can pick up by the middle of their shells. But a snapper has to be picked up by the end of their tail. We never harvest any that are smaller than a dinner plate because it is too much work for not enough meat. That one on the road today was big enough and you let him go. Dont you eat snapper? We LOVE it, especially the white meat neck. Its hard to beat fried snapper. Years gone by there were plenty of leather back turtles. They are way better than snappers. Just dont see them or jack rabbits hardly anymore. Missed the girls today. Bless you and your little mountain family Justro.
@Epona522 жыл бұрын
LOL - I caught a leatherback on my fishing line a couple years ago; we knew something was stealing our bait, but he got just a little too greedy . . . and there I was, trying to figure out what the heck I had on the line until I got it to shore! He wasn't very big, maybe 8 inches . . .
@metcalfmills56792 жыл бұрын
Yeah I always pick them up by the tail but last time I had somebody crybabing that I was going to hurt it so that’s one reason I didn’t, the other reason is if you look close he peed a big puddle when I first started looking at him and got his tail soaked. I didn’t want turtle pee hands at that moment. Animals usually do that before they fight. I know folks that do but I’m gonna stick to beef… Thanks USS! Bless you too

You seriously made me smile when you saved that turtle! The Justro eclipse was a lot of fun to watch happen too! I like to experiment with when I plant different things like you’re doing. I have been surprised before by things doing much better than I thought they would when I planted later. It really does all come down to when the first frost hits, but that’s always a guessing game at best anyway. Thank you for letting us hang out with y’all. I like seeing what you have growing. Your little taters popping through made me super happy for you! I’m sure by the next day they were twice as high after that rain too! You don't need no string if you got a push plow. Just drive you stake at the far end of your row and then just keep your eye on that stake and walk right to it if you don't look down at the plow you'll have a row straight as can be. After I learned that trick it's saved me all kinds of time.

Nice looking wheat. You could get some nice clean straw out of it, too, if you wanted to. That’s what I hope to do with my barley if it turns out.
