Jerry, your wisdom and even the title of your channel is more inspirational and helpful that you will ever know. I used to get fomo and chase rumors where everyones catching the big ones. and drive hours through the night. Still do sometimes, but it hit me last spring my to "FISH MY WAY" and the most unbelievable fishing experience Ive had is that after putting my son to sleep at my moms house who lives near the hudson was taking very dangerous hiike down the palisades cliffs in the pitch black to this breathaking spot that seems meant for fishing. in the middle of the woods that literally no one has ever fished. I went 5 or so times and dealt with the typical catfish ruining my night for 4.... but one night... i cant explain why, using the same formula of one rod with bloodworms and the other cut herrring (or bunker if herring not available and same tides).... It caught non stop keepers. nothing huge but it meant the world to me. it was heart warming.

Congratulations on a great start with stripers, you sure deserve it after a dismal herring season. That first strike damn near yanked me out of my shoes watching it, LOL. Think "herring profile" soft plastic - the gray Storm Shads right out of the package are weighted perfectly and working nicely. If you just have a soft plastic shad body, go 1/2oz jig head in calm water... 1oz in rougher \ deeper water.
