Another of your enjoyable videos. One of these days I will be moving back north. Whenever that is, I plan to do my own tour of Southern Indiana to see these places you feature in your videos. I also love the snippets you show of the roadways you travel. I miss riding down the backroads of Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. To me, its beautiful country.

Alexandria is also home of the Gaither Gospel group.. Went to my senior yr at Elwood 3 miles west. I still have an agate rock chess set I bought at Blue Springs cavern in 2012, while taking the boat ride they turned off the lights to show how dark it was, some one farted in the dark... laughter was louder than the echo!!!
@AdventureswithRoger

Many years ago, a friend of mine bought a chess set from blue Springs, still has it. I’ll tell you a funny story about Blue Spring caverns. I called up the folks there, told them I wanted to make a movie and it would cost them nothing: free advertising. They told me to come early in the morning, and they’d give me a personalized tour. It was an awesome and quiet tour, just me and one cave guide, and we exchanged cave stories as we floated along. Near the end of the tour, he said, “Some people say this cave is haunted. A few of us have experienced some things.” It wasn’t too much longer, and we both started hearing what sounded like high-pitched screaming! We just looked at each other. It got louder and louder as we moved along. Finally, the source of the screaming was identified: another tour boat with a failing motor bearing! 😂 “Man, you had me going!”

I’ve toured the entire state, for over 50 years. Here’s my opinion for what it’s worth. Northern Indiana has its beach, excellent museums, Mounds State Park, covered bridges, round barns, Amish food. Central Indiana has many fine museums, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, NFL and NBA sports, huge conventions, and a narrow band of excellent places to hike, to the west. Three nice waterfalls, including Williamsport, Cataract and McCormicks Creek, and Parke County’s covered bridges / mills. Southern Indiana is a much more wild place,than the rest of the state. Thousands of wild caves, all the show caves, huge waterfalls, rolling hills, incredible hiking, tons of history, and many quirky roadside attractions. Not to mention: many prehistoric settlements, the largest at Angel Mounds. I know people that are terrified of leaving the city, where cell phones don’t work, and others that love leaving the city behind and seeing beautiful, untamed places. Depends on what a person’s looking for! 🙂

ah there are many of the "worlds largest things in and around indy" the childrens museum the indy childrens choir, the indy motor speedway is the largest permenent seating capacity sports stadium in the world its the home of the ncaa or where it got its start, it did have one of the largest type dirt tracks that cars could race on till it was limstoned at the indiana state fair there were only 4 miles that were set up so cars could race on them indy was one of them till 2021, the other 2 are in illinose, and one in sacramento, but they cant or wont let them race cars on the gravel at the state fair, it has every other kind of racing and track imaginable in indy other then a big dirt track, that is big enough for silver crown or champ car racing, they look like sprint cars but for the longest time they were dirt versions of indy roadsters that looked like cigar shaped cars and did 100 mile races on the big dirt tracks and miles for decades from 1903 when racing really began in earnest in the usa, the only older racing venue was the mile in milwalki wisconsion, and only by a few months, though knoxvill the sprint car capital is said to be where the first car race in the usa was done on a track, indy also has the hq for the american legion or did, and indy has the worlds largest ball of paint, not to mention the indy 500 is the largest single day sporting event in the world. indiana also has the first purpose built and highest banked 1/2 mile auto racing track in winchester the banking is 37 degrees there were others steeper but they havent raced on those tracks in years, and you have in indiana the first electric lighted city in the world and where the honeywell corporation started out, the artificial joint making capital of the world in warsaw, the magnet wire capital of the world and where electic and self metering gas pumps were invented in fort wayne, they were also where the boiler safety pop off valve first jukebox first commerical video game systom was made and early makers of paintball guns called markers under the tippman family, you also have sentnel paintball guns made there, and the modbar esspresso machine was created and made there, with help from le marzzico of italy, and eventually bought them out, and the oldest collage band in the usa at notre dame, oh and holiday world was the first themed ammusement park in the world, and the car parts capital of the world many say.
