Verse 1] Looking out the door I see the rain Fall upon the funeral mourners Parading in a wake of sad relations As their shoes fill up with water Maybe I'm too young To keep good love from going wrong But tonight you're on my mind So you never know [Verse 2] Broken down and hungry for your love With no way to feed it Where are you tonight, child You know how much I need it Too young to hold on And too old to just break free and run [Verse 3] Sometimes a man gets carried away When he feels like he should be having his fun And much too blind to see the damage he's done Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one So I'll wait for you, and I'll burn Will I ever see your sweet return Oh, will I ever learn? [Chorus] Oh lover, you should've come over Cause it's not too late [Verse 4] Lonely is the room, the bed is made The open window lets the rain in Burning in the corner is the only one Who dreams he had you with him My body turns and yearns For a sleep that won't ever come It's never over My kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder It's never over All my riches for her smiles when I slept so soft against her It's never over All my blood for the sweetness of her laughter It's never over She's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever Well maybe I'm just too young To keep good love from going wrong [Chorus] Oh... Ohh... Ohhhhh... Ohhhhhh... Ohh..... lover, you should've come over Yes, yes, I feel too young to hold on And I'm much too old to break free and run Too deaf, dumb, and blind to see the damage I've done Sweet lover, you should've come over Oh, love well I'll wait for you Lover, lover, lover Lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover Lover, lover, lover you should've come over Cause it's not too late

I discovered Jeff Buckley last year at 2 am and I haven't been the same since. Every song on this album is so beautifully written I get chills whenever I listen to it. RIP to an angel

I discovered Jeff’s music about 2 weeks ago through his title track ‘grace’ and I was mind blown and thought there was no way he could top that...MAN was I wrong!!! I now love the whole album and this song especially brings a tear to my eye as I can relate to the mistakes he sings so majestically and emotionally about. If only he was still around today to bless us with his music, the world would be a hell of a better place, RIP Jeff 😓

l had a full mental breakdown and admitted into hospital back in 1998. It was shortly after that l found Jeff's music and listened obsessively for many months. l can't really articulate exactly how profound his music and lyrics and the dynamics of his voice have continued to heal me. 25yrs later and still a huge fan of the Grace album, and Jeff's awesome lyrical style still amazes me. My favourite lyric..would be, "my body turns and yearns for a sleep that won't ever come"!! lt's like describing a depressive phase where sleep evades the conscious mind...forever holding back the beauty of the dream world!!

I don’t think I’ve heard a song capture so perfectly, the shear pain and misery of having your heartbroken quite as well as this song. The first time I heard this song I thought it was a great song, but one failed relationship that hit me really hard later and I listened to it again and this song absolutely devastated me, because I know exactly what it’s like to love somebody that much and have it all fall apart. I couldn’t stop listening to it even though it sort of hurt. I think for me listening to this song was like having a really good cry.

When a track is full of hooks, it's really good for a handful of listens. Not enough hooks, and the listener has no reason to come back to it. This song is the epitome of the "perfect blend", allowing it to remain fresh every single time.

I was 24 by the time, and lost the girl I most loved in my life, and probably the one who loved me the most, and it was all my fault. Listened and cried a couple of times to that song, without really trying to understand its lyrics (I'm French). Tonight after a long recovering, I'm listening to it afin, and reading the lyrics give me a master love/life lesson I should have been able to take years before....

My ex boyfriend broke up with me a year ago and I’m still having a hard time dealing with it, I’m still wishing there weren’t more than a thousand kilometers between us, and that we could get back together somehow. I’m still thinking that relationship was the closest I could get to true love... and it hurts. It’s never over.

I"m so sorry to hear you're having such a hard time over a break up. I feel your pain. My ex broke up with me in 2009 and he was a huge Jeff Buckley fan.... which is why i find myself listening to this track in 2020. I promise you that life will go on and be good again. Take care and know that you are worth so much, with or without your ex. you will always remember that person, and that means your that your love was real. But your life will go on without that person. Take care and remember your worth xxxx
